Thread: New Ranger Titles?
Don't care what they call the new stuff... but this is a true story.
Sitting in camp, just maxed out wayfairing, so I proudly stick the title on my head... my running buddy says... "What is a wayfairy?" Yikes and other unprintable phrases.... Yank that down asap.
Until I make Master ranger, I am sticking with Novice on my head. Unless I am going into PvP combat, then I show novice artisan. heh heh heh

who wonders what a "Homemaker" is doing carrying that big a rifle...
I'm using "Hunt Master" atm ![]()
dunno why but I kinda liked it...
Um, Infiltrator and Stalker are already taken. Stalker is BH Invesitigation IV. And Infilitrator is Carbineer Countersurgency Tactics IV (I think).
APIV and WFIV need new titles but Frontiersman and Hunt Master are cool.
How about this (assuming the TC changes go through):
Wayfaring - Bushmaster
Frontiering - Frontiersman (I like it too)
Tracking - Stalker (mmm... can't really think of better but it doesn't quite work, does it?)
Trapping -Snares Engineer
Personally, I'd love to see "Pioneer" worked in there somewhere.
That'd be a fun tag to have.
B
Wafaring- Recon Expert
Frontiering- Encampment Specialist (not all Rangers are men--->Frontiersman)
Field Bioscience/Tracking- Geomancer (knowing of one's surroundings)
Advance Trapping- Game Hunter
Pioneer... I like the timbre of that!
I wouldn't mind seeing the following titles (although I DO like Wayfarer and it's what I wear now):
Master Ranger: JUST Ranger.
Wayfaring: Wayfarer, Pioneer, Nomad, Traveller, Explorer, Rover, Vagabond, Drifter, Gypsy, Transient, Wanderer, Excursionist, Expiditionist
Frontiering: Frontiersman... it fits perfectly.
Tracking: Tracker, Pathfinder, Seeker, Pursuer, Shadower
Trapping: tough one... Advanced Trapper, Expert Trapper, Professional Trapper, Ambusher, Waylayer, Restrainer
Although if they added something like Stalker....that would be hard to resist.
I like Wayfarer, since it means explorer, guide and traveler. Currently I use Fronteerisman since I think Master Ranger is bland. I would also bet that most players that use Fronteerisman are Master Rangers since that is usualy the last tree to get.
I do not like Hunt Master or Trap Master. They are, once again, bland. Though with the change of skill names, I would guess that the new title will be Tracker or Pathfinder. I am not sure what to call Trapping IV.

Wayfaring should be... STALKER...
Frontiering... Frontiersman I like...
Hunting/Bioscience (As it is HUNTING...) Master Hunter sounds better... although Hunt Master grows on you... trust me... it's a great title. Maybe HUNT MARSHALL is better... I love that.
Trapping... Game Hunter? That is more like... Bioscience/Hunting tree... DUH! I dont know. General Trapper? lol. Trapmaster... Trickster... HAHA YOU CANT MOVE MASTER

My only gripe with it is the context-- in SWG, it doesn't necessary mean "I am a tried and tested survivalist" more than it means "I sat in ALOT of camps."
I like the other titles, as well, but again, it's all a matter of context.
Wayfarer: Sounds cool, but reads: "I'm a mean crawler, but just you wait until The Patch!"
Hunt Master: Sounds cool, but reads: "You probably don't know what this means, and I'm not certain I do, either."
Trap Master: Sounds cool, but reads: "Yeah I still use Scout traps, but just you wait until The Patch!"
I'm being somewhat facetious, of course
The "Stalker" title already belongs to another profession: Bounty Hunters. When they reach the top of their investigation line they get that title. Sorry folks.
I would like to see our titles as:
Wayfaring > Expert Ranger
Frontiering > Frontiersman ( I happen to like this too )
Tracking > Tracker
Trapping > Master Trapper
And that's my 2/traps
