by the way, i've always LOVED the Fallen movie you made.

Hmm...you know, you're probably right. I never thought about that. Darn! I'll have to check outthe waypoints Draknev gave me on Flurry today and see how crowded the oases are. I may have to get clever with my camera angles and never film from any anglefrom which ahousecan be seen. *crosses her fingers that there is at least one oasis that is still relatively secluded* And if that won't work, maybe I'll have to come up with another setting. The main reason I'm looking for seclusion is to lessen lag.

And thank you to everyone who enjoyed my movie. This next one won't be dramatic like "Fallen" (i.e. I'm doing a dance video to get comfortable with making movies again) but I at least hope it'll be entertaining.

You know, you rangers have a very friendly forum. I should stop by more often! Thank you for your help.

You could also minimize your viewing distance. Might give that a try.

Will do! The rangers willbe among the first to know! It won't be for awhile though, I'm leaving ona week long vacation soon and then, after I get back, it will take me awhile to actually make the video. Right now, I don't want to set any dates. Best guess, 4 to 6 weeks?

That's a good idea. I'll try that. Thank you!

Another option might be to try Test Center. It's usually less crowded than the Live servers and might have an oasis or two free of houses.

I was going to sugest another server, myself. I know there are a couple few of us who have support toons on TC that would be happy to help out (not to mention the plethora of Coors/Glowies there). I think I have a tailor, and I know Paks has a Tailor, if you need costumes made up.

That's a good idea, although I'm not sureI want to start over on a new character as it would just delay the video longer. Now that I've got a video in mind, I'm anxious to get started on it. But at least it's an option.

And thanks, Lira, for the waypoint to the oasis on Lok. I'll check it out as well.

I'm coming to this thread late as usual, but try the oasis near the krayt gy. There's a lot of hills, so it's hard to build there (I should know I tried planting a house there!).

Thanks for the the great films you've made!

Hehe, no sweat mate. That thread is for the hard of thinking who can't tell the difference between a trade forum and a community forum.

Now, what you're asking for is a nice bit of info that taps into the Rangers love of exploration and, in doing so, are massaging our bizarrely warped egos

Best of luck with the project, and be sure to pop back and let us know how it goes.

hehe

Well, I went and checked out the oases on Tatooine last night (I haven't gotten around to checking out the waypoint on Lok yet). The oasis in the middle of nowhereonly had one house nearby and it would be easily hidden by creative camera angles. However, I must have incorrectly remembered what a Tatooine oasis looked like—I thought they were a bit more lush. I like the palm tree aspect of it but...something is lacking. If only it were like the real world then I could bring in extra plants and "dress" the set.

So, the Middle of Nowhere Oasis is a contender, but I'm not completely pleased with it and I'm still scouting for locations. Maybe if I tell you a bit about what I was looking for you could give me some tips? I want the setting to be a touch exotic and have sort of a Middle-Eastern atmosphere. That's why I originally thought of Tatooine. But perhaps Yavin IV or Naboo (some place with palm trees, I'm thinking) would work as well. Hmm...

Or (and here I go thinking "outloud") perhaps I should just stick with Tatooine but find something else instead of an oasis. I really like the stark beauty of Tatooine. Perhapssomesort ofruin orskeleton (e.g. the Krayt Dragon P.O.I.) would work. Actually, I kind of like that idea... Rummaging around the ranger forums today, I stumbled across Simsimsan's maps and have found a number of interesting places that I'd like to look at closer, especially on Tatooine and Naboo (although Naboo is more swampy, isn't it? Except near the coast...).

Thanks for allowing me to call on your expertise.

Naboo does have a lot of grassland and hill/mountain areas, too. The only really swampy area is the south part of the planet. You MIGHT be able to get a palmtree and sand feel from yavin if you stick to the coast that is just north and west of the mining outpost, but there are a lot of trees up there, so stark probably doesn't count. Endor has a vast desert in the northern portion, but there is very little water, and only the occasional dead tree.

I don't know the exact WP, somewhere in the middle-ish of Tatooine is a set of ruins that is built into the side of a hill. I have always found those intriguing. I will check SimSimsan's maps, to see if I can locate it.

Ah, the ruins I am thinking of (I think, lol) is labeled Stone Stairs + Buildings and is just north of the Squill Caves (0,0) on Tat on the SimSim Map.

Like calc said.

The northern part of endor is a very interesting desert landscape, very austere and quite surreal. There are mushrooms and what looks like strange fungal plants growing there... i will scout out there tonight and see if i can find an "oasis" type landmark for you.

Oops.. (edited)

Yavin has also has a small desert area, but its very hilly and rough... lots of rocks and odd plants.
