gotta catch me first. and if i'm not mistaken, Chewie was kind of clumsy so i'd imagine most wookiees would be slow and clumsy as well.

Slow maybe, but thats why we have such long arms. Clumsy - I protest! The only thing that would bear out the clumsy accusation is the amount of things that tended to fall on his head. Toolkits... droids... and that wasn't his fault!

Chewie just seemed slow and clumsy, and honestly not too bright either in the films.
He was also a big chicken. when trapped in the trash compactor, everyone else is trying to brace the compactor, and what's Chewie doing? pounding on the door and crying. Yes, he was mean and vicious at times too, but deep down Chewie just seemed like a scared Teddy Bear.

well, if you're going to base your opinions of all Wooks on Chewie, isn't it fair that everyone else base their opinions of Rodians on Greedo?
and you REALLY don't want to compare Chewie to Greedo. One captured an AT-ST...one shot first and got fried.

and episode 3 just didn't have enough Kashyyyk scenes to truly show the nature of most wookiees.
and bothans... well all we know about them is that many of them died.

Man, one droid head on backwards and your whole species is marked for life! And I maintain that any being who could troubleshoot that modded out Falcon in the middle of a fire fight is neither slow nor less than brillant.
For the record I think they should have kept it the way they had it in the original film. I mean, what kind of a moron sits around gloating and allows himself to get shot first?
