Thread: No one noticed the changes to examine?
In a discussion with another master ranger we noted two additional changes,
Terrian Negoation is +95
...er we thought it use to be +100
Burst Run Efficency Which is now +75
which We also though use to be +100
anyone can confirm?
Flynn makes a couple of outstanding points. Having no knowledge of a creature proir to harvesting it the first time, and having it show as blank on examine is great. It's a Ranger accrueing <sp>knowledge.
More importantly (to me whom my Guild nicknamed bodybags) is Flynn's idea of having examine tell us if the creature group assists. I was trying to get materials for my camo kit on dantoinne last night, and would like to have known that the Picket was bring her brothers, sisters and cousins to my impromptu funeral. ![]()
Yes, I am very happy they fixed that! However, I personally still havethree issues with it:
1) The "damage" value for creatures is incorrect. If the damage reads, say, 140 - 150, I've seen creatures hit for 200+. Maybe it is *Average* damage. If this is the case, it needs to read "Average Damage" instead. Now, I don't think it is average damage because they *rarely* hit for less and *frequently* hit for more. In any case, something needs tweaked.
2) One of the biggest *missing* features from examine is to know whether a creature is "Social" or not. Rangers tend to solo a LOT so this information is critical. I am personally not the kind of person to travel to an advanced planet and shoot at something just to "test" to see if its friends will assist and end up dying. Rangers are masters on the wilderness and creatures ... and therefore should be able to see this information from examining them.
3) What in the heck is Feirocity? I've seen it from 0 - 15 and I can't figure out what it means. It has nothing to do with being "Social" or deathblows.. I've tested it. Anyone know *FOR SURE*?
Yea! Examine is much better now.
What I would like out of it, and I am sure you guys will /backhand me for this but:
If I have yet to kill something.. like a Krayt for example, is it truly fair for me to know anything about it? I faced off against some Sharnaff Bulls last night outside Kor Vella, and I had never fought any, yet was able to determine what blaster to use.. I was happy don't get me wrong, but is that truly how it should be?
Rangers are ethologists ... they DON'T need to kill a creature to know everything about it.
I don't see that... like killing a horse to learn how to ride one... should be able to know a lot just by observation.

...snip...
I did notice the deathblow thing. The other info didn't really change for me, it still showed what resources and effectiveness etc. The only way the examine will be more usefull is it shows Social: Y/N.
IMHO
Tan,
The only other posts were from me saying I think this may have happened and if so, I'm annoyed with it, and Dwarftosser saying he read it in the patch notes, but it's not there. ![]()
