Iwas under the understanding thatthe 60% rule was going toapply only if more than one of the players in the group had scouting skills.

"Before patch I was harvesting 35-39 Scaley hide from Tantoine Rock Beetles. After patch I only get 25 scaley hide. Aprox 40% reduction."

- I've been following this issue since release of patch. There IS a problem with harvesting atm. Check out http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=ranger&message.id=9975 for some info. We need to get focus on this subject!

I don't understand the logic that if you use a pet you should get less from your harvest. That makes about as much sense as if you use a trap you get less, or if you use a weapon more powerful than a cdef you get less... Also, disbanding to loot doesn't seem to work, but not grouping with your pets at all (even though they are still helping) does work. It is obviously a bug from another undertested patch.

Look, you get benefits from grouping with your pets, including added xp for killing mobs. I could group with my **edit** MSE droid and get extra xp... why? cuz I'm in a group with a robot.

So until they get rid of that feature, don't expect to get special treatment to not get the 60% harvest. Don't create your own group with your pets if you don't like it. You can't have the best of both worlds.

Maybe those CH's can train the Rancors to harvest too, but I think it wouldnt be pretty. Funny to watch though

I agree with you - haven't that AT-ST out to help kill the Rancors on your own should give you less XP. This is my personal opinion.

For Delta and everyone else that disagrees about pets, what about the Creature Handlers whose only weapon is a pet? In that case it is less powerful than any person with equivalent skill in a combat profession even without top-of-the-line weapons. Penalizing us for using one of the fundamental skills of our profession makes no sense. A skill that lets us manage our "weapons" a little better at most, not one that gives any significant tactical benefit.

On the plus side, I can loot NPCs without disbanding since I'm no longer using groups...

With faction pets I can understand. Mostly these are NPCs and everyone has the option to get them. I can see the logic in saying they could be scouts, but this decision was purely for the supposed benefit of multiple scouts in a group. Nothing is gained by having pets of any kind cause these penalties. (AT-ST's are rediculous at their current power anyways, do we really need to bother using them as an example?)

Don't group with your pet. Problem solved... next!

The concept behind the 60% was that you could have 3 scouts harvest. Thus under the new system, a creature that previously would have had 10 resources from it, could now have 18.

When you are the only scout in a group, you should still be able to receive the full harvest. The idea behind the 60% was to counter the increase in harvest, not to nerf the amound of harvest for the soloing scout. Unfortunately, it's probably more of a hassle to program to do it the correct way. I would expect that we will have to deal with the harvesting the way it is.

I just love the attitude of people when others have a problem they laugh and say FU. Maybe next they should take 40% of all harvests for people who use a weapon or armor.

Sorry, but I just don't understand those who get enjoyment from seeing other people's fun decreased.

I am not understanding something... So, ifsomeoneuses a pet Dune Lizard instead of a Laser Rifle, they should get less harvest off the creature?

Guys,

I don't understand. Please help me.

First - how has the 60% rule "decreased your fun"? Is it because it takes more time to get XP? Or more time to get hides? Why are you worried about how much time it takes anyway? The more time it takes, the longer you are playing. The longer you are playing, the more fun, right?

Second - The Devs have already frequently stated that a Master CH has the abilty to use a pet or combination of pets that are at least as powerful as a maxed out combat player. So the complaint here is that some CHs are getting penalized for using their pets as weapons.

True. But using your pet is going to cut down on the amount of time that it takes for you to kill something. Even if you've got no combat skills at all (which is crap anyway, because there was no way you could get the Scouting XP for CH without getting the combat skills to kill creatures and harvest them), you'll still be killing things much faster than me and a Laser Rifle. So the XP/hide drop is negated by your ability to harvest quicker.

That's the real point here - I tend to view this as less a slap to those who group with pets and more as a bonus to those who hunt solo. You hunt solo, you get 100%. Hunting solo, especially for Rangers, is hard - so doing it deserves a bonus.

Hunting ina group - especially if you're a Master CH or own an AT-ST - is considerably easier, so you SHOULD get a penalty.

The easier something is to do, the less utility it should have. That's almost a golden rule in MMORPGs.

So it's not that we're saying "FU". We're simply saying that we understand why it happened, and that you'll be much happier altering your playstyle than complaining about the change. You're in a minority - most of us Scouts and Rangers are very pleased with the change.
