No. The ranger class wasn't specifically designed for the role of "jedi protector," it's much more of a roleplaying thing for most of us.

Greetings,

Your standard TEF will last you five minutes from when it’s first incurred (prior to the November Publish, they lasted 10 minutes - there are a few reports of bugged, long TEFs). However, it should be easy enough to refresh if you want it to stick around - simply trade amongst the group every few minutes, applying a fresh TEF. Rumor has it they’re fiddling with how TEFs work in the December Publish, so I’m not sure if the pass-the-potatoe trick will work post-patch.

If we EVER get traps that can be set and used in PvP I think they would be most welcomed in slowing down a BH on the trail of a Jedi friend. (I'm so looking forward to trip-wires!).

Since that is nothing more than wish right now, I think there are still many things we can do.I have some ideas that I will present to you in-game, Grey. Posting here allows BH's to read our thoughts, plans, and tactics, and that can be extremely dangerous for our Jedi friends. Perhaps we need to establish a private board to discuss things like this? That's another thing I'd like to chat with you about in-game. Looking forward to tonight...

noticing how little a ranger has little to help in PvP, and little to help the Jedis who seem to be fellow group of wandering souls (at least for now) I think a cool new idea would be to have /rescue apply to PvP as well. As long as the person you use /rescue onis the same faction, it would cause all players targeting the person to target you. It would force them to turn toward you and use their next round against you. They would then have to manually re-target the person they are attacking. This would not always be successful, and if it was a jedi, would then give you a TEF. As you gain skill, this would work against higher classes. Would be a cool way for Rangers to help out in PvP. Just a thought

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I am not sure about how the flagging works either. But one thing I do know as a Master Ranger and Master CH. If I am helping a Jedi, I can have my pets set to "guard" the Jedi. I have done this with other players who were weaker and could be easily taken out. If a bounty hunter attacks the Jedi he is going to get swarmed so fast he will be to busy running for his life to worry about killing a Jedi. Now with Vehicles if they come in a group you can also flee as soon as they are detected and they will be in serious trouble very quickly. Since they don't have tracking if several vehicles all leave the area at the same time they will not be able to lock on and take him out. Again have the Jedi "guarded" if they come in vehicles to try and swoop in they can't attack effectively until they get out of the vehicles. once they shoot even once from a vehicle they will have the animals all over them, so stopping isn't going to be a good option. My partner is a Combat Medic and loves to disease and poison these kind of characters, with added bleed shots unless he has a master doctor in toe he's toast.

They can't shoot from vehicles - they'd have to dismount first. A seasoned BH probably wouldn't worry about the creatures - but a novice might be skittish enough to be distracted. On the up side - I wonder ifyour creatures attacking would give the group a TEF vs the BH?

If it comes down to a fight - I think the best thing is to try to get out of Dodge ASAP.

CapnKill,

Your comments were not only “all in good fun” but in good taste as well. Besides, you are right; we’re really “not gonna be that much aid to a Jedi”. Especially when you compare the firepower of a Ranger with Master Pistoleer to a Bounty Hunter with the Bounty Pistol tree maxed out plus some Pistol Techniques and/or Pistol Stances from Pistoleer. Let’s face it…BH carries awesome firepower.

I regret that I will have to decline your suggestion to “just tell 5 or 6 bounty hunters where he is, so they can lend him a helping hand”. The whole notion of 5 or 6 bounty hunters helping a young Paduan seems like such an oxymoron to me, but thanks for the idea.

And, thanks to everyone who has made and may still make a contribution to this discussion. NRaas, hope you are reading this thread. Let us know what you think.

"hope you are reading this thread."

Ilurk within everythread on this forum.

I do like the idea of /rescue working in PvP, though it would have to be implemented in such a way as to not bypass the existing TEF system...

  • Namely, you could only pull aggro on attackers which you would normally be able to attack, and who could normally attack you, within the confines of TEF.

----

As for the rest, I live it up to you all to decide your own path with the Jedi...

  • Sounds like fun though.

few things work well, I know

areatrack players, contantly report that or shout itthe status forthem, have a camp set up and watch the fun and have pets ready as well as be ready your self. Most need xp like the rest of us.

We also have ways of Harvesting things so help them on that as well.

Also, use the code of "Help" not leave...rescue if need be.

Uhmm... my post was sarcasting as someone pointed out. I don't like the Jedi. I would try and kill one if I saw one or tell others whre one was. Well... I might talk to them first and see if they're a hand job or not.. from my understanding most of them are. The ones I would respect are the ones that no one knows about. Those are the good ones, the ones that won't be needing any assistance from others.
