The fastest way is to grind camps while sitting in a camp. Redeploy the camp every half an hour or so. Grind grind grind.

The afk way is considered a really bad thing, and you'll get your wrist slapped for doing it if you get caught.

Look it up in the holocron. The AFK way is unequivocally stated to be "ok" by SOE themselves. There are no exceptions and I would take them to court if I were punished in any way for AFK grinding of *any* profession.

Give me a shadowed forest into which I might disappear.
Give me a terrible foe and stack the odds against me.
Give me friends and creatures with whom I can share my adventures, my losses and my gains.
Let the gales blow and the world be torn asunder but don't make me stand alone against the tempest.

I didn't consider "advancing the slowest" in my criteria for "best". I looked back on the most fun I had in gaining wilderness survival xp. Getting the xp that way was much better in my opinion than the way I got the last half of Frontiering 4, which was grinding camps while camping and camping while at I was at work.

The basic afkamping is so astoundingly slow as to not really be worth it. Grinding camps is faster. With 30-40k hide and bone, you'll have the frontiering tree in, what, a day? Especially if you're an expreienced grinder.

I think Tal was referring tothe Ranger community responses, not the SOE response.
