I'm finding that I try to pull one aggro at a time. Then if two come I kneecap shot them both and throw a phen dart at each one. I can usually scoot to within 40-50m and then start headshotting away. Not much to it really. Helped a guildie get the big CH size Veractyl(level 65) today. Wasnt much of a problem at all.

I actually find myself hunting alot of Yavin now. Its good good scout xp and plenty of klikniks to allow me to get some rifle/combat xp as well. I can max out Scout xp in a day. And at that conversion of 8-1 I walk away with 150k FS xp None too shabby. Already got enough for box 2 of Luck and half of 3. Might not make the journey to the village tho til Phase 4 is up. I hear its unfun there right now..heh

Granted I havent fought many npc's but the few times I fought some korgas on Endor I found it wasnt bad. Anything with a Ranged combat profession vs me usually wins. Tho, I did just hunt down some nice converted(from composite I think) bone armor. Its actually the coolest looking thing I can wear now til I get some rebel battle armor.

What needs to be fixed is the one shot incap/deathblow by nova troopers. I was happily hitting some gurrecks on Endor when they just spawned next to me. Didnt even see a shuttle. So, I had no chance to even shoot them once. So, I got decay on all my stuff. Not sure if Tef's still exist now or not but I dont like getting ganked all of a sudden.. /grumble

Is it just me or did some things get easier to kill?

In a way, yes. For a level 80ish player versus a lower leveled creature, our specials are almost overpowered (I recorded a 2.3K hit against lvl54 beetle today). This is yet another symptom of the inherent and unfair imbalance of the combat level system. I found today that while I could kill a lvl 54 mob in three shots (advanced sniper shot), it still took a while to kill the thing because of the warm up and cool down times.
So in comparisson to the old system, the combat revamp (you know what to put here) is more damage but slow motion. This is why I find the combat revamp (insert) to be really boring. Not only are you still just hitting buttons like before, but you actually have to sit and wait for the privledge of hitting those buttons, rather than storing them up and sitting back and watching to see if your "programmed que" would work or not. The warm up and cool down times are really killing the flow of combat, imho. Because of those, combat is neither intuitive or engaging. It is really boring because you're sat watching your tool bar rather than watching the action!
So yes, some things are easier to kill because the combat level system has unbalanced everything, but while it's easier, it's also very boring because the combat que got replaced with the "timers".

Now I understand your complaint about the CU being boring. With pistols and carbines, combat is much faster than what you describe. When I engage in combat, I hardly ever look at my toolbar. I concentrate on the creature to see when states are about to wear off. In fact the only times I look at the toolbar in combat is when I look for my snare (still haven't gotten it memorized, but it's close), or if I miss with my root attack (then I have to watch the timer). I guess rifles must be a slower combat proffesion.

My advice to you then, if you want combat to be exciting again, respec to another combat prof, like pistols or carbines. I find that I can easily solo creatures at or slightly higher than my level.*

*Disclaimer: I am no longer a Ranger. My skills consist of a smattering of scout, Master Smuggler, and almost Master Carbineer.

That happened to me on Dant too. I put a /bug in, as I'm pretty sure this was something they removed in a patch pre-CU.

Well this is the way traps should work, which is why humans or humoid types (keeping with the Star Wars theme here) are considered by all things in universe that we are the deadliest opponent in the universe. But I wouldn't talk about this too much if I were you, or we will get nerfed.

Its not so much of a problem that the phen dart works except that once its effects come off the creature he should start moving again. But they dont. They just sit there like a bump on a log. I have had maybe 1 or 2 critters start moving again after I hit them with darts/kneecap shot. Only exception was doing the Jagged Fang quest on Kash. He would start moving again after the states went away.

You're kidding - creatures not moving after the phecnacine wears off? How do I bring this about?

Please tell us exactly what you're doing. One trap? Two traps? Any root/snare weapon attacks after the attack?

If it's an exploit they can fix it. But I'm eager for any advantage I can get toward surviving. I still won't get any XP!
