Hi Ranger Family,
Up until now, I have not taken advantage of the respec. I have really enjoyed having and using myPistols ("up-close-and-personal" on the quarry
. Granted it takes me longer to pull somethingdown but I still do it. Would anyone advise me otherwise? Is there really a need for me to change to Rifles or Carbines? My character is pretty well-rounded. I not only act in the hunting capacity but also in PvP, Rebel Missions, and someday possibly FS and as Jedi.
What are your thoughts? I would love to hear from all of you.

Use some rifles with your pistol skills. I have to admit on my alt i have grown fond of pistoleer. I am curious to try the Caribeener since it supposed to be the mezzer.

actually pistoleer is more about mezzer than carbineer , odd when carb was supposed crowd control. And action cost on carb specials will drain you fast if you use only the higher attacks

Thanks for the input. Right now, I am Master Pistoleer. If I change to a blend, I would lose Pistoleer Master. What would be the advantage? How would you recommend proceeding?

There's really no need to change unless it suits your style.
If you're happy with pistols, stick with it. Stopping shot is great for both PvE or PvP, and really makes up for the shorter range compared to other guns.
Carbineer is great for strafing style attacks... not so great to use on tough lairs, but useful against mobs half your level or lower (great for harvesting or gaining FP). Charge shot is useful in PvP, with limited usefulness against creatures. Nice mid range.
Rifleman -- high damage T21s, /cover is nice and sniper shot does a lot of damage. Long range, but slowed movement.
All seem to have their advantages/disadvantages.

Oh I don't mean to pick up and rifle skills... just a rifle. You can use your Pistol specials with a rifle for extended range. Me as a rifleman I pack a pistol (FWG5)in town in case i need to deal with any Imperial inspections. A pistol lets me run around faster in town and It just seems more fitting of a weapon in crowded city streets (yeah a little RP). But its alot of fun to use headshot with a pistol.

I see what you mean. And yes I am happy with Pistols. Right now I sit in a template of Master Ranger and Master Pistoleer. I have 4 Skill Points left. If I pick up Rifles I could use up the last of the SPs but am unsure if that will be sufficient.

I guess that would be along the lines of my comments to frightwig. I would supposedly use the last of my SPs to pick up Rifles 1.

You don't need it. It takes a CL 0f 54 to use an advanced laser rifle. No Rifle skill 1 needed at all.

Sounds like something that makes me go "Hmmmmmm." Can you recommend a Rifle I would be qualified for?
Thanks in advance JokitoRoyo.

Yeah, I completely forgot about that..
Most weapons have CL requirements now, rather than being certed at a certain box in a certain tree.
Some, like the t21 (requires master rifles) are specific, but most will list the combat level required to equip them.
You can be a pistoleer and use most rifles, giving you longer range and maybe more damage.
The combat profession you choose now has more to do with the specials it offers, rather than the weapons you're certified for.

I have one of these, it is my highest damage weapon.
Pre-cu mine was krayted and it converted to 300 base dps post cu, which is great for a weapon that requires CL54 only.
I would highly recomend one of these especially if you can find one with 300dps.
