Okay, it looks like i'm going to have to go there. I have fully immersed myself in the Ranger lifestyle. this was important for me to mention, because i don't like hunting with other people. i daresay they "cramp my style". The last time i hunted with a group i got in an altercation with a hologrinder over camp XP. It was so stupid. anyways... i am stuck on 4-2-4-4. I just can't climb up those last 2 rungs of wilderness XP. i figured if i just gave it a bit of time, IT would come to ME. welp it's not really working out as planned. I'm either going to have to group on some stupid voritor hunting missions, or i'm going to have to scream "come to my camp"outside of Coronet. *Gasp* i know. i hate it. i don't know what to do, though.

i just want to apologize in advance for my possible ranger *gulp* grinding. Hopefully my brothers will forgive my sins and take me back. *hangs head*.

grab as much hide, bone and metal as you need to make field base kits to get through Front IV. Then pop open a field base and grind field bases in practice mode. disband the base every 20-25 minutes or so and throw up a new one (for the extra xp.)

Get yourself 4 crafting kits and cycle through them. You can average about 7-8 bases a minute this way and 178xp a pop in practice mode.

If you have enough resources, I think you can get through front III and front IV in about 2.5 hours.

lol Don't let Skinner see this. He was the main reason I didn't power camp through the last two boxes.

heheh...

lets not call it grinding. Lets call it a high-paced, self taught learning experience. That sounds more like a night school for highly gifted people.

and dont feel bad...i ground my way to frontiering IV when i re-mastered ranger

I have heard that fishing while in a camp is the way to go.... not sure though since I had master ranger before the started granting the xp for fishing and I never really had to "grind" the camp branch anyway.

I would say if it seems to work, then with the added bonus of the very valuable fish meat, this could be a win win way to do it!

Make it happen! We all know how hard the camping line is to level. I, myself crafted my way through Front 4.

I'll admit it too, I crafted my way thru the fourth box.

I got on my cities chat channel and gave them the waypoint outside of town where I was sitting, telling everyone I was having a party

It actually turned into a decent sized group all chatting and joking around while I crafted as many camps as I could.

I'm all for staying true to the profession, but I can't see a professional hunter sitting around in a camp doing nothing so that he'd magically understand the finer points of putting resources into a little box that makes things.

Yep, yep, boy this sounds familiar, lol. About 1 month after I got the novice ranger box I was at 4-2-4-4 in ranger without grinding. I hunted, I fished, I threw traps, and everything came easily except that damn frontiering. So I gave it another month, made a concerted effort to ramp up my fishing and camping while hunting, and made it to within 20k xp of the elusive 4th level box. Then I just said "ah screw it" the other night and just putting down a camp, going and doing something else in RL, coming back in 30min, tear down the camp, put a new one up, etc etc. Boring, but effective. Also if you have a mind to you can grind the "artisan way". Get big stacks of hide and bone, 3-4 crafting tools, and make tent after tent in practice mode. That's actually the quickest way, but it's easier just to do the "afk camp" thing, lol. Oh, and I did try the camping/fishing thing simultaneously and it didn't work for me. At least with field bases. I would walk right up to the edge of the stream, throw down a camp, and then suddenly I'd be standing in the middle of my camp quite a ways from the stream. And when you walk back to the stream, I'd get the "leaving your camp" message. Oh well.

You know what I wish they would do... to avoid this kind of thing, just give us like 3x the experience points to fish. That way at least fishing would be on a par with "afk camping" and there would actually be more incentive to do it.

I am 4-3-4-3 in Ranger and need 9k of trapping and 30k of wilderness survival xp. I plan to continue as always and run some missions until my wounds are averaging about 20 for each stat and then pop a camp and heal, afterwards I find a place to fish until I have about 300 fish and put them on the bazaar and then start it all over. Sure it's taken me over a month to get this far but I don't care, I'm enjoying the trip.

I'll admit it, I ground Frontiering IV as well. I did it legit all the way up to Frontier III, but when I finally made the decision to go up the trapping line and got through all four boxes before I'd even made a dent in Frontiering IV, I crumbled.

I used the afk camping macro someone posted on here while I went to class, or slept. When I played actively, I played, hunted, did my normal things.. But when I went away from the game, I macroed. My last 3 camps were legitimately done, while hunting with/safeguarding a group of Jedi.

Also, for what I call "fishingcamps" but which others call "flooded camps" you have to position yourself just right to do them, and it's finicky. You have to stand as far into the water as you can without getting the "you can't place a camp in the water" message. One foot in, one foot out seems the best way. If done properly, the whole ground of your camp (except the small mound where the fire sits) will be immersed. If it's waves sloshing over a mostly dry ground, it won't work. But if the ground is fully immersed, you can fish in camp. I found this both fun and profitable, as well as being a good way to get Frontiering XP.

There'ssome shame in the grind, but if Ranger is in your bones (not to mention yourhide and meat) then I imagine your peers will forgive you.

I would also like to ask for absolution. I got through the last 20k of wilderness survival xp while I was sleeping and working.
