Thread: A friendly message from smuggler korvask about the proposed ranger versus smuggler aspect....

check the in-concept forum and read into Helios post a bit--


he mentioned the things that we'd steal would be "like" spices from a smuggler mission. Which would imply that they'd have to have spice missions. Sounds really cool. I've long wanted to have a "cop" character (pilot in the Cor Sec and Royal Naboo pilot profesions, Bounty Hunter to catch true criminals, etc, and this gives that toon a great RPing aspect. I can "steal" the delivery or go kill criminals as a MBH/Master Ranger. sounds like a great roleplaying combo.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I can see this starting running jokes between Rangers and Smugglers like what goes on between Rangers and thoes who make the Hawtpants.

Best part is if this mission interaction does take off with BHs in on it too for failed deliveries then its gonna be one hell of a fun time with all the banter

Iconic professions. Ok. Chewbacca was a Scout. How come that didn't stay?


When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.


I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.

No, this means that Smugglers should be nerfed and receive huge debts when losing in forced PvP. Oh, and make the profession impossible to grind through cuz shooting a pistol with 32m of an NPC or non-grouped player calls out the Rangers.

LOL! Well, rangers won't be the bounty hunters, from what I gathered. More like the border patrol. Where a BH wants your head- the Ranger just wants your stash (hey, alot of the Rangers are the'natural' types, they probably just want to keep it to themselves!)


I do forsee a LOT of Ranger/Squadleaders and Ranger/Bounty Hunters popping up though, at first probably hundreds and hundreds, until they find a new FOTM.


I do love the idea of more interaction with classes- I just hope that they keep the idea of BH hunting smugglers. It just makes sense. Boba was hired to get Han, not Luke after all. It's good they are adding in ways to make the classes interact both with and against eachother. A ranger could help a BH find an elusive mark (Ala Garindan, the odd looking spy that led the Stormtroopers to the Falcon in Ep4). They could camoflauge a smuggler, helping him hide as a patrol passed by (closest in films is the camo ponchos for Han, lol). As for against, that's more obvious. a ranger stealthed near a well-known trail, waiting for smugglers to pass with their illegal merchandise. Or a BH/Ranger following a jedi, cloaking when need be, waiting for his allies to leave while leaving traps.


As for a ranger/squadleader- you essentially gain a very capible (skill wise, not necessarily player wise) leader, with very advanced abilities to hide his team, wait in ambush, then surprise attack, for example. And in PVE, it also applies. If you noticed, for example, two 'equal' damage dealers will often confuse a mob so it just runs back and forth. Camoflauge can be used to set up a flanking maneuver,f or example, and catch the mob in a crossfire. Traps can soften it up as it charges the healer types, or riflemen. Essentuially fortfying the position. I'm sure people will find manymore ways to use (and abuse) the capabilities than I can think up, it's 1:30 here now.

Don't get me wrong. I like the outdoors as much as anyone of you hunter types. But if you get to snoopin' around my business, you'll be gettin' a lot more outdoorsy when i'm done with ya. Maybe harmonize with the natural wildlife at the bottom of a canyon on a backwater planet so far out the sun got lost. Hunt me all ya want...i've gotten out of worse. *laughs darkly*




(or in layman's terms, can't wait to see how this new mission system works.)
