Thread: Vehicles = Camo Nerf
Ther conceal skill of teh Ranger will still prove useful in protecting the non-combat members of a party. Conceal the medics so they can roam the battlefield doing good deeds and keeping us alive.
If you want to save camo, let it work in PvP against overt players of the opposing faction. You'd see more master rangers running around than ever before. It wouldn't even have to make you 'invisible'... taking you off the radar would be enough of an equalizer.
It's not as overwhelming as it may initially seem... you'd still be able to tab target someone, and as you can't apply cammo to pets you'd still be able to see them on your radar. It would just add a stealth element to PvP combat.
This is actually my number one request. You want rangers to be useful? This would be one of the best ways to do so.
While I agree that camo is pretty much useless and breaks far too often, it could still be useful in the hunting environment as well. Just because you don't need while on a vehicle doesn't mean that everyone will be on vehicles. While hunting, I don't see many in my parties on mounts right now while in the act. Why assume that people will be in vehicles? I would only think that would be the case while getting out to the happy hunting grounds. Also consider that with player cities, shuttleports will get rid of quite a bit of travel. Are they a nerf to camo too?
I have already planned on dropping that line as it is useless to me at this point. I was on Dantooine hunting last night and everytime I would conceal someone it would break within 5 mins. I can always get it back if and when things improve.
This is a riflemen speaking, and I'm not sure about this, but i believe that you can crash your vehicles into trees and the like, meaning that these forrest planets will kill your swoop/speeder. You guys will have a more tactile approch to camo. I may be wrong, so don't flame me, but that may be true.
I think the bigger issue with mounts and now vehicles is that it completely removes the imporants of terrain navigation for both us and squad leaders. I have a ranger and a weaponsmith, my weaponsmith I had to give up the scout profession for the points and I hated it hugely and typically only travelled with my squad leader friend. I thought this was a nice addition to the game. Now who cares, I have a mount that will take me over that rough terrain, no real need for terrain nav and the mobility line of squad leaders is pointless when your whole party is mounted.
