Thread: Master Ranger, Cloning station add-on to HTFBK

I am starting a new thread regarding this idea, because I think that it would be a fun discussion.

I think this alone would make the class worthwhile. If you have Master Ranger, then you get to have a cloning station add-on to your high tech field base kit.

Here are the requirments to use (PLEASE feel free to add to this, I want to hear everyone elses ideas):

  1. The add-on would cost extra resources, and you could select to make with the camp. So the option to create is separate. Resources would be Metal and Chemical. (I am not sure how expensive this should be. Since only Master Rangers can make these, this should eliminate the weekend-rangers)

  2. You can only craft this WITH the HTFBSK.

  3. One-time clone only: You can only clone once at the station, after that it's back to town! Also, any clones you have stored elsewhere are erased. So you can clone in town, but with wounds.

Anything, else feel free to add-a-roo.

What happens when the camp auto-abandons because you entered combat? You gotta hit combat to die and need a clone

What do Rangers know about cloning?

I don't get it...

"What do Rangers know about cloning?"

Most likely it would need to be an optional component crafted by another profession.

What do Rangers know about building crafting stations? But apparently we can do that...

i still say since that you cannot truly clone to a HTFB but u can use it as a center meaning you will have wounds afterward...it jus doesnt seem right to doctors..i have well over16k metal and 5k polymers so unless these stations costed **edit**loads i could keep placing them if someone imn my group died

I don't get it either. Seems like a useless expense/feature to me.

One more thing.. wouldn't having a portable cloning station offset the balance of PvP? Perhaps unfair advantages or never ending city raids because the cloning stations are right outside the city?

I would like a camp that i could bind to and my group can bind to. So if we are killed we respawn at it in bacta tanks, still having wounds and not making a medic unecesary and much needed. It's a field base, it should have things like this, otherwise it's just a place where we sit and regen which is pretty dumb cause i can go to a hospital and regen, no doctor required to heal wounds, just takes forever. I can sit on the ground to regen all my stats but wounds and BF.

I think we should be able to heal BF in a HTFB, but not a cloning station. I also think the HTFB should repel everything once the fence is activated.

I think it is more the fact that I am against cloning, period, than it is allowing Rangers to set up cloning stations...

Maybe if it was called a Forward Bacta Triage Field Base, I could possibly stand behind it....

Then the Bacta tank would probably be an optional component crafted by another profession.

I like the Bacta Tank optional component idea. Perhaps an alternative to actually cloning ata base/camp could be a new "Portable Shuttle Landing Pad" type base, so if you get killed, you clone in town, and can then take a shuttle (perhaps for a fee?) from the town's shuttleport back to your camp. You would only be able to take this shuttle if you built the landing pad, or if a member of your group built it. The landing pad would not auto-disband when you went into combat, and would stay deployed for 15 to 30 minutes. What do you think?

Sorry if this has been suggested before, and like I said, I also like the Bacta Tank idea too.

Interesting idea, but I think it's going too far for the dev's to seriously consider it. For starters, this is the realm of the Doctor's Res Kits. For seconders, a portable cloning facility is awfully powerful and game-altering.

I like NRaas' suggestions above - I think his camping issue (forgot the number, in post above) is right on, as is. The hunting cabin, combined with high-tech field base kits that don't disband during combat, and don't go away until you break them down or log out, is a much more realistic andplausible idea for dev consideration.

I do agree that it would bevery usefulto have some way, when travelling far from town and in a large group, to get a team memberback without having to wait for them to run 5000m back from the cloning center to rendezvous with awaiting (and bored) team. On the advanced worlds, this reason alone keeps most groups I've been in within 1500m or so of the town they're based out of simply because we don't want to lose time waiting for dead teammates to catch up. It does dampen the adventuring side quite a bit, although with a good Doctor (or better yet, two) around, it's not an issue. I like the concept, but I think it's going too far for the time being.

I think we need to work on the simple things before working on big, big changes like this Getting the base perimiters repelling monsters, keeping them up for longer and during combat, and the importance of spawns faraway from town are all more important andfar more likely to get done.

Right now, I'm pushing for NRaas' suggestions100%. Everything else is icing for down the road, after all these other ideas have come to fruition ~J
