Are there any other Rangers out there with a second class in elite melee. All the proposals and revamp ideas all include ranged combat. I personally am a Master Pikeman and would like to see some attention given to the up close and personal way of hunting. Ranged is cool, don't get me wrong, but there is something hard-core about a man and his pike/sword/hammer vs. the mighty beasts of the galaxy.

If you just read the documents and ignore what is on TC5 that fencer would sound like the most rangers profession. Hint and run, sound is more rangerish. But I am afraid that after the CU a ranger will to weak to handle close combat.

Ranger / Swordsman here.
I'll never drop ranger. I've just always been trying new combat profs to go along with it.
Swordsman is a blast. Once I master it, gathering resources should be easy just because of how quickly you can take down creatures.

TKM/Ranger. I've played both sides though. I started as a Ranger/Rifleman back when rifleman was gimped (2.5x melee damage was FUN!)

Dude.
Ranger/Pikeman all the way.
Although I'm toying with the idea of Pistoleer now....

Master Ranger / Master swordsman here too. Love it, especially tanking krayts for guildies and friends but I do think we Hammer-Happy-Rangers will suck royally after the CU. My mind is almost made up to change template to M Ranger/MBH and either some CH, Pistols or even Squad Leader. Heck, If it'd put some fun into my post CU gaming experience, I'd do entertainer.

I too am a mater ranger master pike. Wa master rifle for a while but got tired of it... Thought a real wookie hunter would want to get up close and personal with his oponent. So pike it is. I'm a bit worried (as is evryone) as to how well thi will work post cu, but I'll adapt.... as usual. Can't wait to get my hands on the new sticks though

If I ever unlock my second character slot, I'm going Master Ranger/Master BH (in the CU it looks like it can be done)

I was never much into melee... I like to do my killing from afar.
I was a MR/MPistoleer, then went MR/MRifleman.
I do like the idea of pikes tho... too bad I can't be a MR/MRifleman/MPikeman
*sigh*

After the CU I am thinking of dropping master rifleman and pick up entertainer. Master Ranger/Master Entertainer : the uber non-combat profession

started out as a Master Ranger/some Carbineer. that was cool, but I wasn't inflicting too much damage. so then I went Master Ranger/TKM, and I love it. Its harder to keep track of kills, cause they run away too much, which is frustrating, but I've learned to use my abilities quite well over the last few weeks, and I love the tricks that you get with TKM. Now the CU will more than likely change that since I don't think I want to be a tank Ranger only. I like inflicting damage, and that'll be hard with CU and TKM.

I have a Ranger/M TKA not Pikeman, but being an elite brawler combat profession should not make any difference except to possible armor you can wear as opposed to some ranged professions. But if you M Ranger you will still be limited like any other M Ranger who is in the Ranged profession to what your maximum health. You will be basically 2000 behind a two Elited Mastered "Combat" Professional. They I believe can potentially get three masters in combat professions but one of them will have to be master brawler or master marksman, you can not get 3 M Elite Combat Professions anymore. So your max life, according to the current system, will be a plus 1000 or so if you M Ranger, where their's will be roughly a plus 3000.
