I think MonsofoLexius' sig says it best... Ranger isn't a profession as much as it is a way of life.
I've been a Ranger on one server or another since July 03.. and of all the professions then and now, it's about as Broke as Broke gets.
If you just want a boost to your harvesting, take the Tracking tree and nothing else, and use the remaining skill points elsewhere.
But if you have a calling somewhere inside you (many fellow rangers on this board share it) that you can't quite explain to others who wonder why you spend 63 skill points on a profession that is technically languishing in limbo, then welcome aboard.
Ranger requires you to bring more to it than it brings to you. It is a role, an attitude, a state of mind. It's a belief and a calling.
If this appeals to you, then go for it. You'll find us a friendly, helpful lot endowed with a preternatural patience (which is sometimes taxed, of course).
If this doesn't appeal to you, then thanks for at least looking at the profession in a non-grinding manner!

My .02 is we (RANGERS) are getting much more out of the game than the rest of the DRONE HOLOGRINDNG MASSES!!!

Ok, it's like this: no one gets Ranger for a benifit other then that tracking skill, and we got that on the first revamp, imagine us old foeggies that decided to go for it on day one... er... day two. You get Master Ranger because that name, in itself, sounds cool. It's a RP thing. You can still make money, and with the right combo of combat profs and buffing you can near what non-masters can do, but never quite as good. True, you won't be PvP but some of us are working on that. If you can be patient, perhaps help us with making Ranger better then you might like it. If you are looking for the power game, move along, you are not going to find it here.
