I picked a short little sneaky looking Bothan day one because I wanted to be a ranger and get the camo bonus (+15?)
I also Have a ring that adds +3 to camo.
And don't BE's make camo clothing?
What does this all mean?
Does it all add up to helping? Is there a cap?
Educate me on camo bonuses. Is it just broken?
Thanks.

BE's make the additives for the tailors to make BE Clothing. I wear a lot of it. Its nice to have the added defenses and addons. All BE clothing is limited to +25 total. So even if your wearing 2 +25 mask scent pieces of clothing. It will only max out at +25. So you mix and match. Like i use a shirt with +4 melee def/+15 stun defense. And it goes with my +25 mask scent pants. But I also keep a pair of +25 creature taming pants. BE clothing is worth every dime.
The cap for most skills is 125 i believe. You may be able to take that to 140 since your a bothan. But Im not totally sure. BTW there is also Jawa Beer which ads to your mask scent. Ask your local chef's about it.

I am curious about this too. Is the species modifier to camo even working anymore since they added the new abilities (camo kits etc.)? Someone told me (former BE) that modifiers don't even add anything until you have +10 So having a +18 (bothen with a ring) would give you the same bonus as only having a +10.
I've never seen anyting confirming or denying that though.
And what does that +10 do? Increases your camo effectiveness? By how much? I vaugely remember something about 95% to 98%... gah. I'll have to look it up. Does it also increase your ability to camoflage others?

Bothan Master Ranger with BE clothing will cap out at +140. You don't really need the experimentation points but the extra skill seems to help my chances (at least compared with Fred--he complains about his failure rate a lot while I have very little trouble with it).

As Nemo says, Bothans cap out at 140.
The +25 cap from modifiers is on top of your innate skills, be they due to professions or species. (A few skills like defense do have a fixed cap that no one can exceed, however.) Camo let us show this was true since we can conveniently mix the Ranger, Bothan and BE clothes and see the effect it has on experimentation points. (Who said camo was useless, eh?

Cool beans, I'm also a Bothan since day one. Wanted to be ranger and still hold master ranger. I have sevaral peaces of clothing that have mask scent and camo bonuses. All made with the green/black/brown camo looking colors. A plain white shirt though.
When in my full Ranger Outfit, I have a +128 camo and +123 Mask scent. From what I'm told and understand, over +100 on either of these doesn't add to its effectiveness. It does add to how long it will last if it isn't broken. My camo kits last about 30-40 minutes, and on me they have lasted to "wearing off" even fighting giant baznitches and rancors. On others though they seem to get broken much more often. Even though according to dev data, it should really. They say, on others, the /conceal is based on the skill of the ranger applying it. So by that, it should be just as effective as it is on me, and last just as long.
For skill cap, I believe the game has a skill cap of +125, even with BE clothing. This is supposed to be for all skills. So my +128 camo really only counts up to +125.

Wow, that's weird. I also assumed that the Bothan modifier went above and beyond the 125 that most people cap out at. Otherwise, it's just a matter of creds overcoming innate skill, and that's just plain old weak, in my opinion.
Ask any Bothan. We're pretty darn good at hiding in plain sight. Fred lost track of me sitting in a cantina!!!! We're SHORT. There's less of us to see! and, we're furry! Ghillie suits!
So here's to hoping Bothans can go up to 140:
/raise glass of Jawa beer
/ponder how drinking can make you LESS visible
/order another round
/order another round
/order another round
/order another round
/order another round
/order another round
/order another round
/order another round
/order some Veghash
/order another round
/order another round
/shout NONE OF YOU SILLY LITTLE SOB'S CAN SEE ME NOW, CAN YA?!?!?!?
/find punchbowl

I'm only guessing on the skill cap. Don't know for sure. But with out my clothing, it's only like 115? What ever it is at master ranger plus the 15 points for being bothan.
But yes, I do pretty darn well hiding.
On a side note, trying getting an all white outfit. It, believe it or not, does very well of hiding you in the city. My friend bought an all white suite, and I could never find him in the city or crowds. He was standing right in front of me and I had to send him a tell "where are you?"

The cap definately does go up to 140 for Bothans. I definately have 14 experimentation points with +25 camo clothing (+150 still only give 14 exp points). As for defense mods, you can get them over the cap with Chef foods and Squad Leader bonuses. Skill tape/clothing mods cap at +25 to the profession and race skills. If you look at the skill page, you will see that racial bonuses are on the left side of the slash (so a Bothan Master Ranger with +25 camo clothing would have +115/+140 camouflage skill).

I actually had the same question the other day and did alot of prying around. What I found interesting is how you can loose a skill modifer.
EXAMPLE: You have aSEA with +10 to rifle speed and +16 to maskscent! Well when u putit on your mask scent is already @ 135 of your 140 (example). Rifle speed is 90 of 120. It will enhance your rifle and you will loose the mask scent! Now I dont have a piece like that to verify, but would love to see if anyone can shed some light on this!
When I say loose it goes away for good!!

For SEAs, it only matters when you add it to a piece of clothing. If the clothing has no skills in common with the SEA then you get the highest mod on the SEA. If your clothing currently has skill in the highest mod that is higher than the skill given by the mod then the next highest mod is checked (otherwise it upgrades the clothing to the higher value). If two mods have the same value then the alphabetically first mod is checked first.
I think.

i really hate it when i read "it caps at 125" or in this case "140 for bothans"... why?... because the skills don't cap themselves (with the exception of a few defensive combat ones) except in the way you earn them - skill points can only buy you +100 camo... the cap lies in the skill modifier from clothing, armor and even weapons- whether looted, BEed, or SEAed... the highest that bonus willgo is +25 (even if itregisters as higher)... anything else that gives you bonuses still applies - generally this is limited to racial bonuses, food, or an SLs bonuses...
this means: a master ranger (+100) bothan's (+15) camo score while wearing +15 camo pants (BEed),+3 camo belt (SEAed), and a +17 camo powerhammer (how does the bothan heavy swordsman do this??), has a camo score of +140... however, they can still drink the beer and get up to +188 (if 4 drinks gives you +48 - nemo0, i'd like you to try this to see if it gives you even more experimentation points - somehow i think those are capped differently though)... and if SLs had a bonus to camo for the group, you could drop that on the top too... basically, the cap only applies to enhanced items... exception: melee defense, ranged defense, counterattack, dodge, and block - these skills are capped at +125 but still allow for all the other bonuses to apply (enhanced items (up to +25), food/drink, SL bonuses)...
and SEAs.. right now when you use them the skill mod with the highest bonus is applied only... if two mods are the same, the one that is listed first applies... the only way to get a smaller/not-first mod to apply, is if the clothing or armor already has that bonus - because bonuses do not stack...
example: you have a +25 camo, +20 dancing mind enhancement SEA... and although you are a ranger, you really love to cut a rug, and want to be the best dancing mind buffer on your server - so you want the dancing mod to apply... the only way you can get this to fly is to get a piece of clothing that has a bonus to camo, it can be BEed or SEAed - so you get your leotard enhanced by a BE to have a +13 to camo... then you drop the SEA on it and now your leotard provides +13 camo, +20 dancing mind enhancement... now all you need is an HTFB that heals BF, and you are in business...

something i just recently noticed about racial bonuses... wookiees get a +10 bonus to trapping... wow... i thought i had a hard time getting traps to stick, i don't know how you folks ever got through it without that "edge"...

and for some unknown reason, i'm posting again... i know nobody asked for this, but one of my favorite places to learn about BEed clothing is: www.swgbio.com
if anybody is interested in getting BEed bonuses, check out this site... the last time i was there it was 100% accurate (at least about the bonuses)... also, it's fun to go through and design an whole outfit - granted, it sucks if you are a wookiee- unless you are a medic/entertainer (or just really fond of the the shoulder pad)...
