Keep in touch on the forums and see what they make of the game, you may come back one day!

To get experience I just take a few missions off the terms. They adjust the creatures to the level of the group, or if you are solo - your level.

Try and solo level 80 vynocks. Good xp all around, altho I prefer Torturs.

I think you have missed the point of seaware's post. That is that doing missions is the only way to get anything now. I have to agree, ranger was pretty much a lifestyle. I too enjoyed roaming everywhere and searching for the best resources. I've neverenjoyed the process of, gettwo missions, kill the lairs, go back and gettwo moremission, etc. In fact the only time I used to dothat is when I needed money or there was a realy good resource.

I still roam and sample,I just don't gain anything muchby it but knowledge.

I hate mission terminals. I just wont do them. Thats why I'm cancelled til the Ranger Revamp. I hope thats enough to bring me back in.

I always hunted like a hunter. I wandered, tracked and hunted. Even if I didnt find anything I refused to do mission terminals. I'm just not gonna be tethered to a mission terminal to play this game.

If adventure planets are for strong players then all mobs should be 70-80 level. If they changed that I would come back quicker. As it is wandering on Endor isnt worth my time.

Try it again now--they've balanced some of the planets, putting places like Dathomir at the 70-80 level (well, at least I didn't notice anything under 65 and saw stuff up to 85).

Also, try the DWB. It's fun (although bring a friend or two and make sure eveyone knows what they are doing).

Yeah, they "balanced" the planets. Apparently "adding high end content to the game" meansplayers get to sit on Corellia shooting a CDEF rifle till they're level 80, then they get to play the rest of the game.

Well, I went to Endor and after about an hour of wandering around nothing but level 65 or lower mobs. I used to have to be careful on Endor. Had to worry bout poisons and diseases and red cons everywhere. Now? Now its just a game of 71 levels of gray... lol.

I went to Dath as well. Found some level 71(I'm level 80)critters. KIlled em and got 2 rifle xp... ? I thought ten levels below you you got xp? Did they change that?

Just dont get why they want to close xp into such a small area. That leaves out a ton of stuff to fight. And as I said before.. I'm not gonna run to and fro to mission terminals. I hate doing that... /sigh

Well here's my rant as I leave what has been the most enjoyable profession in the game.

For years we have lived with a profession that gave us little value skill wise, yet we had fun regardless of our future visions for the profession. We justified this to ourselves by saying that Ranger isn't about the skills the game gives us, but how we play the game, and ultimately our characters lifestyle. For me this meant knowing the best creatures to hunt for each resource, the best locations to find these creatures, and the best tactics to use against them, as well as a number of other behavioural points of various mobs. Hunting was never a grind, I could spend hours at a time crossing a planet or exploring a region while I hunted. Mission terminals were for the solo groupers on Dantooine, not for the Ranger.

That was all pre-CU. Now the planets are filled with grey conned creatures that give no xp and negligible harvests. To gain experience, harvest competitive amounts of resources, or just challenge yourself in combat you must now join the masses in the mission terminal repetition where there is no difference between the creatures other than being a graphic that represents your current level (+/- 2). I've tried this for a week now and honestly find it so boring I must either log off or nod off.

For those of you that manage to stick out the CU, I truly hope you get your revamp and that Ranger gets its day.

Good hunting and safe exploration.

For the skill-points that ranger costs we shouldn't need to rely on mission terminals.

Yet again, something else that is symptomatic of all that is wrong with the combat level system.

I have noticed that there are absolutely no wild animals on Talus except near the 2 npc cities and the one Imperial outpost.

None.

I drove on my bike from Daeric to the Decay Mite cave, and only saw 4 sludge panthers between the cities. Plus, you cannot harvest the decay mites in the cave, because they yield no resources. Tried it myself, and I tried it with a harvesting droid (ungrouped.)

Yah know, it seems perverse to suggest this but, what about dropping down a little in Ranger to lower your CL, investing those points in something 'fun' or 'social' and then having critters around that you can work with?

Now, I've got the SP and the respec points to be able to tinker about a bit, so I'm maybe enjoying a luxury others aren't (though ig you're lvl 80 you probably have the same points to invest). I've dropped right down to novice ranger again, because at present ranger doesn't add any significant combat benefits, in either PvP or PvE, in the way of dec or offence mods. I took a little bit of Bounty Hunter, to get a KD/dizzy attack and pick up some defs.

Now, I'm only lvl 63. I can't solo a krayt... boo hoo for me. But I can travel across Dath without getting asshatted by the local mutants, can run round the plains up there hunting the few lvl56-60 wild spawn critters or I can do earning work on Tat, Corellia, wherever by doing a few missions off the terms.

Has my play style changed from pre-CU? Nope. I still hunt solo, group only with a few friends to either help them level or help me thump some higher ticket bad guys. Absolutely NOTHING has changed for me other than I'm actually having fun.

Loading yourself up to lvl 80 and then complaining that a) you don't have enough SP to do anything else and b) there's no challenge left is as daft as the people who used to get a big tin suit, a head full of brandy and dancers jiggles, pay a doc to pump them full of drugs then go out and find they could kill anything and everything. despite what they say, you rally CAN get too much of a good thing.

Unless you PvP and need to get one up over the other guy, then you should be thinking about taking just what you need from ranger and building a fun template.

The XP issue doesn't really bother me as I have no use for XP any longer. I am a Master Rifle/Ranger with no desire to go the Jedi route. So I do as I always have..wander the planets looking for the best resources and hunting. The biggest difference now is the ability of the animals I hunt. While I used to run for my life if things went wrong, I can pretty much stand my ground and slug it out, unless I'm severly out numbered. Levels don't really mean a whole lot to me, just the quality and quantity of the hides/meat/bone.

So, for me it's still a lifestyle. Although I can sympathize with those still trying to climb the skill trees or attempting to add onto an existing Master skill.

Same here. I got my butt handed to me on Talus by a wilddalyrake lair. I'mCL 80 and they were30 something, but Ioops'd and had at least8 of those buggers aggro me! Granted it is alot easier hunting now and that kind of thing doesn't happen to often (if you're careful that is), but if you're a master rifleman/ranger hunting shouldn't be insanely difficult on most planets. I would, however, like to see more wild spawns of critters in the 70's and 80's at least on Dath and Endor.
