I've read some messages saying it's broken, and others who say it's useful. Unfortunately, it never seems to work for me. Just last night, I had some leftover resources to make a corellian camo kit. I figured I'd give it a try again, even though it has never seemed effective in the past. I put it on, and within a couple of minutes I received the message saying "a creature has detected your attempt at camouflage".
I look at my radar... no red dots. I look around the terrain, and there were only some gurrcats. They're not even aggressive. How exactly does that even happen? /maskscent never gets broken by yellow/non-aggressive creatures (unless I'm mistaken), and camo is supposed to be more effective.
Is there anyone that has had luck with camo? Are some planet camos more effective than others?

Well i'm not exactly sure myself, but i usually use it before i attack a creature. I camo myself, go prone, and fire away. It seems to me that i can fire more before i am detected but then again it could be just luck.

I use mask scent all the time, although it does break very often (at over 125 skill). Cammo just seems a pain to gather the resources required for each planetand even though I appreciate it is SLIGHTLY stronger than mask scent I see no real different in the rate it breaks. Likewise if a creature aggros someone in a group it will aggro everyone regardless of mask scent or Cammo. Therefore, as someones cammo will inevitably break after a few yards of travel in a group of more than 2, it is fairly useless in groups and will remain so until it is unbreakable - except perhaps for 'scout' type creatures.

Ok 2 notes here:
I have and use all CAMO kits!! Not only for myself but to use on others.
Notes:
1) Camo doe snot break as much as mask scent. Im sure someone has the % to break formula!
2) Camo does NOT break harldy ever when you use it on another player!! ie I camo'd my buddy the other nite hunting diseased bobcats. I borke camo 3 times.....him not once.
I am a master RANGER/RIFLEMAN and he is a noob NOVICE RIFLEMAN.....go figure!!

If doe snot was a component, I think camo would be much more cool.

I have had fairly poor results with concealing my buds. They never seem to mind when I don't camo them as it allows us to not have to wait for me to conceal them every 20 seconds.

From what I remember, Camo had a longer duration than mask scent (good)
But it broke when you entered combat (true?)
It worked better on my friends.
When it broke against an aggro, the whole world came chasing after me!
Having not had camo/scent for a while,[without camo]I have noticed I usually can get within the 65m radius, up to about 50m, before I get aggroed.
WITH camo, it almost seemed to guarantee an attack, when it broke (the attack roll seems higher than a person not using ANYTHING)
I just think its funny how quickly they "fixed" Camo , when we complained about the resource requirements, I think the original formula lasted like 2 weeks, then they heard our cries and fixed it so fast, so fast that I cant remember the other ingredients they removed (organic component?).(I personally didnt mind the extra component, as long as camo worked)
So when they say "It takes so long to code these things" You can know its BS.

I've had mixed results
most of the time I can use camo and it performs almost exactly like maskscent. Camo seems to last a heck of a lot longer than maskscent for me though. they both seem to break with about the same frequency.
well in a nutshell what I'm trying to get at is camo is better than nothing, so for your buddies who don't have maskscent it's pretty good. they both seem to be of similar reliability, but I tend to use maskscent more since it doesn't require any components to use it.

Flynn...Camo.Mask used to break when you entered combat, but they no longer do. They only break when you walk by a kreetle...
. I guess we lied when we told you nothing had changed since you left (but if you were here in the early days of conceal that helps give a time frame). Conceal does not work on may NPCs either. You no longer need camps to call vehicles, dorids etc... That should cover it.

I use camo all the time and find it really usefull. Doesnt seem to break much at all. Im even quite impressed by its results on npc's. I snuck up to countless npc's while camo'd and stabbed them in the back ! mwahhahahah
Damn usefull on dath too. I can attack an elder and not having to worry about all sorts of nasty things coming to join the fight

So does it still need to be reapplied when it breaks? Jeez, I gotta get to master quick.
When it first came out you would remain "concealed"(the camo would still be "on") even after detection. Then when you were done fighting you would still have the camo on, and it would "wear off" in time.

That is how it works unless it breaks. Then you need to reapply it.

Well I use camo only on certain planet. Dant, Dath, Lok. Not so much because of the critters, I can use mask for that. But because those planets have a lot of aggresive NPC on them. It mostly works on them for me too. For me, and if I recall the original bugs of /conceal, it won't work to well if you have negative faction towards the NPC. The more negative faction you have against them, the more likely it is they will break camo. Of course I'm a bothan, and if I'm wearing my hunting clothing I have +128 to camo.
I also use it for camo my friends with no or little scout. I have noticed that you can do camo from rather far off. From anywhere within say 20-30m, normal group spread while running, I can conceal people. I just target them from the bar down the left of all group memebers, and hit my hotkey for conceal. Done. I call it ninja camo.
From what I remember NRass once reported that mask scent is 95% effective and conceal is 98% effective. Which explains why conceal is not much better then mask is. I mean come on 3% effectiveness for all the points given in ranger to get /conceal up? I know they won't make anything 100% effective, so that means lowering mask scent effectivness. Buuuuut that will piss off scouts. But I think that's going to be the easiest, maybe best way to make /conceal worth while.

I use camo all the time but only on the tougher planets and then only those that I hunt on regularely. I have made myself crates of camo kits for Lok and Dath and have a stock of individual kits for Endor. On these planets I use them all the time and if I am in a group then I try to keep the other members camoed at all times. It last for 30 minutes as opposed to 15 mins for maskscent, seems to drop less for me with the conceal skill maxed, I can use it on friends and it stops most npc's seeing me, which on Dath with all those nightsister slaves and Lok with it's many varieties of pirates makes for a quieter and therefore more profitable life.
