Thread: Something I noticed about lairs

Well, I have been on a massive easter egg hunt on tattooine. Pretty decent stuff right now on Starsider so I went for it. I collected about 500 pretty quickly but wanted to get about 1300 before they shifted. So, I went to Mos Espa and found some lairs but I wasnt getting anywhere.

So, I went to a little rebel city nearby, unequipped my rifle and started getting nuna lairs by the two. After searching each lair I would abort and repeat.

What I did notice is that after I did that for awhile the area exploded with spawns. Zucca boars, rock beetles, and all sorts of stuff started spawing within 1500 meters of this city. All I was spawning was vynock, kreetle and nuna lairs. Also, I noticed that I could repeatedly search the same lair.Had to wait awhile but I did it. I would just roam around doing laps around the city collecting lots of eggs.

I wonder if the code is setup to not spawn much at all if no one is getting missions. Like on Lok.. would be great for our Wanderhome association to test this.. we all go get lairs. Spawn them and see if the planet comes alive.

Just an odd observation. :/

Ended up with 1370 eggs. I hate eggs.. I dont even want to eat one.. lol. Cant stop myself for scanning for lairs now either.. lol

Searching the lairs is habit forming. I have eggs, jars of floating thingies. I have no idea what to do with this stuff. I harvest every creature, even if the resources are junk. Perhaps Rangers are the galaxies environmental specialists. (or just pack rats) Reuse, renew, recyle? Just try walking away from that Rancor and not skinning it. No can do.

Yep - TH posted that this is how it works. When the planets reach a certain point, they restrict the rate of natural spawns, but running missions in an area will jump start the natural spawns. This is really nice in theory, but it really doesn't do much for the really remote areas (ie., our best hunting grounds) which are far removed from the effective radius of any mission terminal. The other night I had this idea of actually asking one of the wandering npcs for a mission to see if it would jump-start the area's spawns, but alas, they all told me that they had nothing for me to do right now.

Get an artisan to make a critter habitat for you. They make a "bio-fireworks" display. I've actually never seen one, cause I can't pin down an artisan.

I have a little "Trick" I do for gathering eggs when a BE or whoever requests them.. I guess I'll share it with other hunters, since there's certainly no surplus for good quality eggs and it won't hurt my business.

Eggs/lair items do seem to respawn.. I'm not sure if there's a time period, but I know that if you leave the area until it no longer appears on your radar and then come back to it, you'll find some eggs.

My "trick" is to get two missions from a terminal with creature lairs. Get them close together and in the same direction and then drive out to them to set up the final location of both.
Then search one lair, drive to the next and search it. Then go back to the first. Assuming it's more than 128m or so from the other, the first lair should be able to be searchable now (even about 30 seconds later). Go back to the second and search, back to the first.. search... repeat.
It seems to work for a pretty decent amount of time before they no longer spawn anything. When both are empty, cancel your missions and get more. You'll come up with lots of "nothing of interest", bats and glowzees, but it's a quick way to gather stuff from lairs without running around all over the map to every lair you see. Hopefully you'll find eggs. It's still slow and you won't get rich from it, but if your buyer wants some eggs, it's a decent way of finding them.

Oh, and when I say "Trick", I guess I should say method, since it seems to be a normal part of gameplay.. certainly not an "eggsploit". HAR! Get it? eh... uh..

Is there much of a market for eggs? Who needs them?

I've seen all that can be crafted and they are worth at least one look so find an artisan to have him craft some for you.

BE's love them in stacks. Corbantis had a spawn of 900+ OQ & PE eggs. I had several BE's willing to pay 100cpu for them because they were scared of Endor. So, instead of overcharging them for breakfast, I took them out hunting.

FYI In order to make one crate of BE components it takes 425 eggs. Plus a handful more for making the schematic and what not. Icollected enough for 3 crates and a little insurance.Eggs are used for making BE entertainer healing clothing.

Each crate comes in 25's but each piece of clothing requires 2 components to make it so one crate equals 12 pieces of clothing.

No tomatoes unless you did that with a Vincent Price imitation...
