Thread: Lowca Ranger Consortium: An Idea and an opportunity to help each other out.
In order to make money, I have noticed that most of us Rangers take contracts from Armorsmiths, Doctors, BE etc, or we sell our grind stuff on the bazaar or we give/ sell to guildies. However, there seems to be a huge demand for high quality and grind material that none of us can really meet. This prompted me to propose a loose organization and a consortium so that we Rangers can start to make some good money doing what we do best.
The Concept
Currently I am working on finishing pikeman, (im having a blast btw) and I have noticed that there are several Rangers on Lowca. My idea is to collectively sell our hides, meat and bone in a centralized location in a building that we would own, decorate and maintain. I have a lot of contracts and a lot of contacts, whenever I log on, I have 3 or 4 emails from friends asking me if I would get 80k of meat, 50k hide...etc. Some of these I take, others I dont... I can never keep up with the demand, and fortunately my friends allow me to have fun too. Here goes the plan.
If this idea goes through, I would prefer setting this hall up in either a metropolis, or in the middle of nowhere. If we set up in an established city, there is the potential for stupid politics to interfere with us. I am leaning toward a non-city location.
I thought that the Outer Rim Rangers would be kind of cool. If you have any naming suggestions, let me know
This is just a thought and a proposal, I appreciate any and all suggestions, questions or critiques. I just wanted to let you all know that I am serious about this and to what lengths I am willing to go to so this can happen.
Thanks.

You might be able to save a few lots by using a large house instead of a PA hall (also giving more storage room with a few small houses). The only reason to use a PA hall is if you want it to be a guild (which you might). And the same person from another server that places the building could quite easily grind to merchant for you, as Calc already offered(it takes minimal extra time but saves you on skill points). It also means that a merchant nerf won't poof your vendors. The main problem with this method is actually putting the stuff on the vendors (I think you need to be the owner). But I've never had a vendor so I can't say.
As for actual vendors, you might want to do: "Grind Quality", "Good Quality", "Uber Quality and Loot". Saves on vendor space and should level out the amount of stuff.
Agon,
Sounds like a great way to get all the rangers and there stuff together in one location, maybe help with setting costs and all. I look forward to seeing how this Idea works out.

There are two ways we can do this...
While I appreciate the offer calc, I would hate for you to log into lowca, /tip everyone their share, logout, and then go off in the wilderness muttering about newbs crawling over the pristine face of Tatooine. Plus that would put you responsible for maintaining all the vendors, stocking them, it would be a huge pain in the arse for you.
However, I have no problem going merchant for a bit. I can grind up to Novice Merchant in about 45 minutes.
I like the Large house Idea too. Its practical and easy and probably less expensive.
So, I can set the vendors myself...or....
the participants can agree to temporarily get Artisan skills so that you can place your own vendor in the House.
Whatever works. I know this sounds like a lot of work on my part, but after hunting with some of you all on Saturday, I feel comfortable entering this, confident that it will be a good thing.
Does anyone have any name suggestions?
In any case, I am totally willing to do this
I'm in. Also I have an alt that has some merchant and I could probably pursuade my guild mates to let me drop a vendor if we needed it. He is also a master chef so if any of you use veghash let me know and i'll make you some good stuff(freeeeeeee if you bring me the resources to make it). I also like the idea of a house instead of a PA hall. On a side note, one of my hard drives died on Monday so im in the process of reloading all my apps so I might not be able to get in game until Friday or Saturday.
On another note the Veghash offerwill only begoodfor the Rangerswho are part ofthe Consortium. Anyone else will still have to pay.
right now I am leaning toward a
Medium Naboo house, its cheap to buy, cheap for maintenance and we can fit a lot of stuff in it.
(its also easy to navigate with the huge front room)
I will try a place near Theed if this is ok...
Also, im in the middle of some nasty summer school biochem classes, and i wont have any substantial play time until next week.
thanks again, I will keep you all in touch
