Maybe something more like:

Back in August 2003, Holocron posted on our forums:

[parts of the quote from Holocron with a link to the rest of the post]

We were promised differentiation from Scout. We received /camo and /ar along with promises of other changes. Camo is not noticably better or more effective than /maskscent yet it takes resources. /ar, while by far the best skill we have, is still buggy and is a far cry from the /track command that Holocron posted and many of the ideas that have appeared in our forums since then. With player cities draining wilderness spawns, droids/pets/vehicles no longer needing camps, and travelling being reduced to autorunning with a speeder, Rangers are feeling an encroachment on our natural habitat.

After this point, we can insert our question.

Nice...very nice...its a short, clear, consise justification and background information that's quick to read and ties in nicely to what our question will be.

/salute Nemo0

Thanks for this...The only suggestion I have is this sentence:

"/ar, while by far the best skill we have, is still buggy and is a far cry from the /track command that Holocron posted and many of the ideas that have appeared in our forums since then."

This sentence is both a run-on and it makes no sense... (pre-coffee grammar for me)

How about
/ar, while by far the best skill we have, is still buggy and is a far cry from the /track command that Holocron suggested. Since then, many players have collaborated to generate more ideas on the ranger profession."

Sorry I had to wait to post this, butI wasn't sure how to address it and TH implied my requested method was not appropriate. (It sounds like there were issues, but there weren't...I just misworded something ). So you can check out this crop of questions here

Now, lets get our list of questions going so we can pick the Number 1. One note, questions of 'when' probably won't be answered right now. I will post a link to the original list NRaas put together shortly. Be nice guys, and remember that the clear and concie rule probably applies here.

  9. It has been noted that the percent difference between what a Master Scout harvests and what a Master Ranger harvests changes depending on the size of the creature. How does creature size affect the harvesting skill bonus? (I assume this has moved up to #1)

Here is the old list, most of these still apply. My comments are in Green.

They already have our vision so this is answered without wasting our "ammo"

Didthe "Outdoorsman" proposal change the developer's mind regarding making our profession solely creature-centric?

Would be nice to know where our profession is heading, save it for later.

Do the developers consider any part of the "Outdoorsman" proposal viable? If so, which parts might possibly be implemented in the future?

Couldn't you sneak this in with the above question?

When do the developers expect to have time to focus onthe Ranger profession, and add more functionality? (This probably won't be answered)

Agree, I wouldn't answer any timeframe questions if I was a dev.

Whatdoes Ferocity, from the /examine window, actually mean?

Maybe more a BE/CH question?

Why does the Creature-to-Hit bonus only apply to Ranged fighters?

I'm a ranged fighter so no interest in the answer. (We are "Range"rs after all )

What does the melee and ranged debuffing effects of the Glow Juice and Wire Mesh traps actually do to a target?

I would want to know that but as I and a lot of others hardly use traps we could probably ask something more interesting.

We would like to be able to see whether a creature will assist a fellow creature during combat, is it possible forthat information to bedisplayed in the /examine window?

This is more something for a top 5 issues or revamp thread.

It has been noted that the percent difference between what a Master Scout harvests and what a Master Ranger harvests changes depending on the size of the creature. How does creature size affect the harvesting skill bonus? (I assume this has moved up to #1)

This I would want to know, but more in a general way : How does the Creature Harvesting skill work so wecan calculatesome real numbers about the difference between novice/master scout and Master Ranger, the benefits of veghash and the benefit of the new droid module. This is my #1 question for this round.

Do skill tapes or armor attachments exist that give a bonus to the Harvesting skill?

Haven't seen them yet. Anyone?

My apologies to the Melee Rangers for the to-hit bonus, but this is my personal opinion.

I vote for asking a pointed question about one of our useless subtrees (camps, traps, or /conceal). Something along the lines of:

Camps have seemingly lost all usefulness since vehicles and droids now can be pulled from anywhere and people can heal with droids. Is there any plan to add additional usefulness into camps or are they simply destined to be a skill point sink for the forseeable future?

You would write an equally good one for traps or /conceal.

Just visited the scout forum. Delta has 2 valid questions so far, the Glow Wire/mesh traps and how creature harvesting skill works.

I trust you guys are also working together on this like you do on other things?

A combination of #2 and 3, or #9.

Personally, I think questions about creature knowledge or camouflage might be the best way to go. As it is, the traps are pretty much useless, we want them to change how harvesting works, and camps are pretty straightforward. My personal choice would be to ask them to explain all the different creature knowledge stuff. This would include stuff like:

Current Creature Knowledge:

  • Ferocity

  • To Hit (and how it relates to defense)

  • Special Attacks (especially Unknown Attack--is that a real attack or are there several different ones they just don't have a name for?)

  • etc

Former Creature Knowledge Skills (and why they were removed):

  • Bone Type

  • Resource Amounts (I'm fairly certain that the formula for calculating the amount harvested is (1.0 + Harvesting/100)*Resource Amount)

  • Other stuff I've almost certainly forgotten (as it has been so long since I could see it)

Possible New Skills (mainly IF they are possible, I know we almost certainly won't get a when but we can stop pushing for it if it is not something that could be given to us without tons of work):

  • assistiveness

  • ranged attacks

  • maybe most of what a BE can see on a sample?

  • anything else?

This sort of question can be answered (although getting the answers might be a bit hard, we might need to simplify it a bit). The information can actually be useful. And we might end up having a few old skills reenabled while they monkey about trying to find out the other stuff (hmm, to get bone type and amounts showing again I just need to set the "nerf Rangers" flag to false).

I agree.Even though it is a broad question I guess we can only hope for a hint of some new content for our proffession.

One thing that has really bothered me and after reading how the Devs dont want to address fixes above is that as a ranger it states in the skill box that we can now gather water or something along those lines and it seems weird that we can forage natural food but not water?

how about:

"would you come by the ranger forum and see some of our discussions? we've been feeling a little left out lately. /sniff"

or would that be like "wishing for more wishes" and thus illegal?

seriously though, i think maybe a vague question asking about an implementation of our "function" might be the best idea... it would show that the biggest problem rangers have is that we have too many problems... but you guys know better than me, you've been at it a lot longer...

i guess this would put me on the boat for number 3 ifi had to pick one... (it would mean they would have to come here to check it out... again..)

I thinkthe harvesting question is a waste of ammo as well. The expected answer will be to "try out the droid harvesting modules and report your findings" so they can look into it. Because this droid answers our request in a way, they will not be inclined to bother with this more right now. The way is not favourable, but it is a way. The question is good, but not one to ask right now.

My top question is a way to hopefully get certainty on changes. We have made our case for changes in our top5, and many intelligent and ranting posts have been made to elaborate on extensive visions of our class, but the only answer we've gotten so far is to explain why we should be changed at all. What I'd like to know, is if we have provided good reasons and if that means we'll get some attention, or that the devs don't agree and we don't need any change.

Question, formulated as clear and concise as I can:

You (TH) have asked the Rangers to state WHY we should get any change, many of us have complied with that request with (to us) very convincing cases for literally ALL our abilities. Do you and the devs agree now that our systems *require* changes and additions or do you believe Ranger as a profession is fine the way it is? ((Which systems in particular would you say require change/additions if any, if not all?))

(( )) denotes an additional question we might sneak in, though TH has a nack for answering only the easiest question out of a combined number, so sneaking in a few is risky
