Thread: Gearing up for some Ranger lvling

Hiya, guys. I'm Kai the new Novice Ranger on the block and I wanted to ask a few questions.

First of all I am on Starsider, Naboo for the most part and have only seen one other Novice Ranger and one Master Ranger who was good enough to train me up some. Are there any others here from Starsider would care to make themselves known so I can add them to friends list andgo bug for training from time to time?

Secondly,When attempting to run out soloing what do you do to get yourself ready? Buffing I assume but what type of armor(if any) do you wear? I have a nice suit of composite but the hit to my stats is pretty rough of course. Stat Migration is 600 across the board. Not really thinking of having it sliced due to the new boot to the rebel head coming down from the Empire soon.

Also, what do you guys tend to bring with you food/drink wise? I have some muon and Nuetron pixie but again I want to try to live without that as much as possible so as to be the good lil covert rebel.

Nice forum btw.. lots of helpful friendly posts I have been reading. Love the Outdoorsman ideas. That woudl truly enhance the experience.

Thx, Kai

Welcome to the community my Fellow Ranger

Firstly are you melee or ranged?

I wear on special occasions (i dont wear armor much) a full suit of composite (80% kinetic 64% rest) unsliced. (for now)
Im a TKM so i regularly get buffed and have a crate of angerian fishak surprise on me.

I have pants and shirt that adds +50 to conceal and maskscent.
I have a shirt that adds +10 to melee defense and +10 to ranged defense

beyond that I go out and kill and harvest things. Ive been a master pistoleer and TKM and i think that both are amazingly effective depending on your play style.

most of your questions will be answered in NRaas' FAQ and links that are stickied to the top. Rangering is rewarding and fun when used properly.

If you have anyother questions...let us know
(although we do recommend that you read the stickied posts up top for the best info)

I am soon to start up the Rifleman tree as my main form of offense. I presently have a +16Mask Scent/+16 Camouflage shirt and some meager pants that prevent +3 bleeding I think and a bit of Melee defense. So, I guess buff + nice armor + fishak(not a spice I assume...not sure :S)= best setup. Heard they were going to nerf the fishak? Perhaps that was a market rumor. hmmmm..

I have been poking around for some better bioengineer clothing but havent had too much luck. The only good vendor I found packed up and moved the radiant server. Bleh!

Yeah, I have been poking around the FAQ's up top but every morning i end up staying up 3 hours later than I should from reading such long posts. Too much information to decode right now.

Just throwing out a general hello and asking a few ???'s tho.

Thx

As far as fishak is concerned, it is not a spice, it is a drink (so no downer) and they aren't nerfing ir per se, just removing it (assuming my sources are correct). It sounds like some of the new foods will indirectly replace it. I supposeI should wander by the chef forum if I want to try to post correct info.

Kai, I'm on Starsider, and I spend lots of time on Naboo--I keep my permanent residence just east of Kaadara. I'd be happy to train you any time you'd like. I'm currently 2-2-4-2 in Ranger, and moving quickly toward Master.

Feel free to give me a shout.

Good luck, and welcome to a great profession (soon to be greater, thanks to this community).

No buffs, no armor. Stim Bs, a few good pistols, my swoop, and off to solo critters I go. Spices make me puke. The graphics are funny and so is the sound of it, but it tends to mess combat up. I stick to food and forage.

It helps I am a Master Pistoleer tho. And I have pharm 1 in medic.

I had mod'd clothes, but they got ruined in a week oninsane PvPand I have notreplaced them yet.

Just take what the terms give ya, and once in a while, group with some higher people to get insane missions (level 150 comes to mind - 5 sharnaff bulls per set, me and a TK almost master. We won, massive harvest for me and xp out the kazoo for her - we had a group of 6 with pets to get this, then the people with pets dropped out. They were very nice to help us - ty River and Athose).

Mainly, see what you can and can't handle, and go from there.

Have fun, kill rasps

Hi Kai

Welcome aboard!
I'm also on Starsider, and usually I'm somewhere between Theed and Braxis getting squished by Faamba's. I'd be happy to help you out with training. Go ahead and add Biwaba to your list.

I would'nt worry too much about getting the armor sliced, as I understand it, they're only cracking down on sliced weapons. Of course, I could be wrong.

Muon is good, but I find the after effects to be pretty annoying, same with the pixies. Tatooine Sunburns are my usual booster.

Cool.

Ranger/ Rifleman is a deadly combination for animals and I think you will like it. My hunting partner is a Master Ranger/ Master Rifleman and we can take out some big ol things.

You will find out on your journey, that rangering doesnt actually make you a lot better at killing things, however, it gives you some opportunities for different tactics that are more subtle and require more finesse than torching it.

I also have medic with pharm I and some clothing attachments for medical use. However, since they have been decaying slowly, i use them now for decoration mainly.

Nice to have you aboard.

Thx for the info and welcome guys. Biwada and Shmuku added to friendslist.

Its gonna be a long road for the time being to Rifleman since i have been mainly playing with carbines for the past month and just realized that I only have 1000 of the 125000 that I will need just to start the Rifleman profession! LOL.Gonna have to start doing some serious chuba slaying

Presently I have a E11 Rifle whose stats are pretty dissatisfying. I need to hunt down a better weapon but I cant decide what t get. Thought about the Jawa Ion Rifle but who knows. My buddy loves his laser rifle whose stats appear to be better that my higher level rifle so I think I just bought a crap rifle without paying much attention.

Cya out there gentlemen.

Laser rifles are great for the high-end damage, but their major drawback is that they've got crap low-end. All the same, they usually balance out fairly well, so I'd recommend going with a laser rifle.

The E-11 is.. I've never seen a decent one, and the weaponsmith who's made every rifle I've ever owned (beyond my CDEF) refused to make me one. I've heard about E-11s with really good stats, but they're rare, because they take really specific, hard to find materials which rarely have decent stats.

I'd recommend getting a Laser rifle if you're cert'ed yet, then moving on to a T-21 as soon as you can find a decent one that you can afford. Others in the rifleman profession will say that the T-21 is useless until Master Rifleman, but I've loved the use I'm getting out of mine. That heavy armor piercing works wonders.

On the occasion I do wear armor, I like Ubese. It has great Kenitic resists, and a much lower HAM hit than Composite.

Buffs are always nice to have. I am a Master Ranger/Soon to be Master Fencer. I usually carry with me a few crates of select traps,/camps, some Muon (for those "oh crud I'm gonna die times") as my specials drain mind like a mo fo. Definately start looking around for either clothing tapes, or armor attachments, as they can make life a lot easier.

Too bad you only get half of that conceal and maskscent mod.

Heh... my first Ranger post Got to say not much has changed since then. I am back to leveling Ranger and Rifleman again. Tho, this time around I am much better equiped with both credits and equipment. Not to mention a lil wisdom gathered through many incaps in the wilderness... lol.

/sigh.. I was so young then. Not even in a guild yet to now Guild Leader of my PA. I've dabbled in alot of professions since I mastered ranger/rifleman and now I feel it calling me back. Hopefully I can hang with it for a while
