ok, now im going from commando to ranger, and since ive got marksman mastered, i need to know what is most useful in addition to the ranger skill: pistoleer, carbineer, or rifleman.

its a straightforward question, but i cant seem to make up my mind, can anyone help me out?

Im pure melee myself, so don't take my word for it, but the most common combo I see is Ranger/Master Rifleman, makes sense I guess, a hunter with a hunting rifle.

Any combat profession will work (as long as you have the skill points) so just pick what you like. Ranger skills do almost nothing for you as far as killing goes so you just need something to let you kill the creatures so you can harvest them.

Go heavy swordsman, we rule PvE no question about it. I was hunting with a TKM, rifleman, and fencer. None of them could keep up with me. Our area attacks are great. Heavy swordsman is very fun also.

Since u have master marksman, master ranger/BH 0304 or BH 0043 would be nice. My friend is master ranger/BH 0304 and loves it. Since u have commando and probably the max heavy weapon exp u will be able to train up to BH 0003 right off the bat.

Seeing as i enjoy flitting of to out of the way worlds alone for a bit of R&R, Rifleman is a cracking choice, mixing conceal shot with either mask scent or conceal allows me to hit well above my weight, (except when it runs out in theworst possiblemoments, e.g. middle of a pack vicious snarling beasts when your harvesting their mate you've just slaughtered!).

Best of luck whatever you choose

At the moment i'm master ranger and master riflemen, and imo its the best combo for several reasons. First of all you get rifle concealment chance, so if there's a big scary mob that would normally all gang up on you and eat you, you can just shoot from 40m+ and lurejust one of them. Or you can just use /concealshot whilst prone, and with ranger crawl speed you can easily keep in range or above 40m so they don't agro.

Prime example was last night, i was hunting for carnivore meat out in the wilderness of dathomir when i come across a bull rancor spawn, i'm unbuffed and don't exactly have uber armour . So i just drink some brandy, go prone, and concealshot them all with my DXR-6b (does acid damage and bull rancor's don't have acid resists) and in a few minutes i've finished off the lair, gotten 2k meat, and not taken a single hit

There are alot of people, myself included, that go the Ranger/Rifleman route. I personally think it compliments my playstyle best in that I like to stalk my prey. I use a combination of cammo and conceal shot with take cover to accomplish most of my soloing.

I have, however, seen many many people go the TKA route. I know you're starting from a marksman's perspective but I've heard from many Ranger/TKAs that the combo is enjoyable and very rewarding as you never have to chase down your kills. As soon as you finish something off, you're standing right there.

In the end I think it really will come down to your playstyle. If you don't mind heavy mind damage / downtime you'll find rifleman very fullfilling (but very slow going... scoring all that rifle XP does take time and is sometimes slow going when you play solo) especially if you like to group.

I can't really speak towards Pistoleer or Carbiner, but I'm sure they also have some major advantages.

Hey, i hope you still have time to consider your ranged profession.

MASTER RIFLEMANN !!!

Here is why....

1st.

You get heavy armour piercing t21's (200 min - 600 max "Sliced")

2nd.

You get a Lowham tusken rifle (300 min - 500 max "Sliced")

3rd.

You can target mindham (Only good damage in pVp as most are buffed or medics)

4th.

Concealshot (Never will you have to be attacked by creatures while killing them)

5th.

CAMOFLAUGE this is very important this is absolutely important skill if your riflemann, I clear Fierce Picket Protector Lairs with ease. (Stand at 50+ meters useing the t21 rifle doing 3000 pr. hit (we never miss) beeing camoflauge and they dont even get a chance to defend themself)

6th.

Use a pet send it towards the lair, use strafeshot2 on the lair kill lair and all spawning in less than 1 minute, harvest all and move on (who can do this without beeing attacked at all?)

7th.

Riflemann is support class, you can still have fun in pVp even if your useing "waisting"skill points on Mastering Ranger.

8th. (wishfull thinking)

If rangers will ever be able to use Camoflauge in pVp (concealment from radar) a riflemann will be the perfect Sniper, who can deny that crawling up on players useing a /cover and surpriseshot (if surpriseshot will ever have a knockdown effect it would truly be a surprice) would not be a fun way to pVp.

......"Dream with me"......

Your tracking your prey, camoflauged, finnaly you have visual contact, you find cover, crawl up tothe unsuspecting unfortunate, reaching your ideal rangeyourcarefull aimfor asurprice shot moment later you hear the target hit, quickly you follow the surprice shotwith avolly of flurry, he is down and dizzy, you aim a second time to bleed him while he is bleeding youfinish him off with a master headshot.

ok, ok... i know wishfull thinking but i stated that... we only have dreams to follow in the dark, and boy rangers are in the dark... the light of the DEVS dont shine our way...

And what all the rifleman forget is -

when the critter charges, and brings a friend, their fecal matter is weak and they need to burst run to fire effectively.

Pistoleers stand there, and calmly dispatch the original target then drop the second, third and fourth targets. Yep, did it this weekend on crazed gurrecks. "Man you are fast". I was there to give xp to a doc buddy working on rifle. He got a box on our expedition (4 missions plus targets here and there) even with me dropping the charging beasties.

Found it funny no one said carbineer, they still broke?

Rifleman can be fast too ... but only at master.

You would not have to be master pistoleer, you would have to be a master rifleman. However, /conceal can help you get there quite nicely ether way.

There is a reason Carbineers are not mentioned, sadly. Hopefully they will get some help soon. To my mind, it's the image. For me it'son Brackerset-backwith a really big gun. Space Cowboy... Mountain Man of the future. To me that screems Rifle.
