Are the 2 area effect traps we get working right now??
I tried the Flash bomb on a group of Banthas and all it did was make them all aggro on me. I got the XP for trapping one of them though.

I didn't think that was an area affect trap. I thought it just temporarily blinded the animal. I'm at work so I'm not %100 sure.

I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be area effect. The flash bomb says it blinds any creature in the area so I am assuming it is area effect.

I know it is an area effect but they have to be awfully close to each other for it to be effective.
I have used them on levisquals on Rori. I target one in the middle of the pack, about 30 or 40 meters away from me. I order my pet to attack and he jumps into the fray. The levisquals mob and surround my pet. I throw one flash bomb at the targetted creature, one glow-wire trap, and one p. dart trap. I soon make a quick end to it and I tab to the next creature. Frequently, I notice that they have the "blind" icon next to their name. I will throw a glow-wire trap and p. dart trap at it and finish it off. Typically, it is when I hit the third creature that it doesn't have the "blind icon" (since it has worn off) and so I'll throw a new one and continue the process.
I have not used sonic pulse bombs because I heard they work primarily on two legged creatures and all of the things I tend to attack are four or more.

Other than the Sonic Pulse trap, are there any traps that have an area effect ??
Im trying to get my last 250k of traps xp to Master and every blasted group I join is a spin group that kills stuff way to fast for me to throw enough traps to get the full potential out of a lair.

In theory, Flash Bomb is an AOE trap. It has been a while since I've actually used it, though, so I can't confirm that it is indeed doing so.

Thanks, I'll give it a try and test it tonight. Hopefully I will be able to use just those two to get that last 250k of traps xp.

Yikes, be prepared for a massive aggro on you if the current tank has not "fully aggro'd" the mob of critters.
I speak from experience, and I am using sonic pulses, which are also AoE.

Yes, its great fun.
Before CU and our cammo wasn't nerfed I could throw those traps and they wouldn't find me..now it's max 2 rounds and they go you. And I have +20 in cammo CA's.
I rarely use area affect traps anymore.

Yes, I have to essentially agree regarding camo. Essentially post CU Mob AI seems dependent of CL checks between you and the mob. The CL appears to determine at what distance the Mob will aggro you irrespective of camo. If the CL triggers aggro you will be attacked regardless of whether or not camo broke.

AFIAR you only get XP off the critter that the trap hits, so AoE are just dragging a lot of grief in your direction. (Could be wrong, have been before, yada yada yada)
Am doing OK on the trapping by hitting them with a stink bomb to start aggro, then KD shot, P-dart, snare shot when that starts to wear off, P-dart again or if it's getting too close/fit I'm happy to kite backwards and HS it till its dead. Then start on it's buddies.

I have recently used flash bombs and they are AOE and did put a blind status icon up on the nearby animals. If you are in a group, these are good traps to throw at animals that are grouped around a player who is tanking.

I have to disagree, I threw sonic pulses and flash bombs, (flash bombs do AoE as well I can confirm,) and I was getting xp for each creature in the area affected by the trap. In fact it was the only way I could get full traps xp with the spin group I was with.
I would have enough time to throw 1 sonic and 1 flash, (2 of each if I was lucky,) before being incap'd, which would allow the rest of the party time to either draw the Piket's off before I was incap'd, or take them down whilst they were agro'd against me.
