A little background I have been playing since the game went retail and I just made novice ranger and that was my goal.

I would continue to take your sweet time because there's really nothing all that special between Novice and Master. And since it doesn't look like that's gonna change anytime soon, there's really no rush.

I'm sure others will disagree but camo kits are too expensive and not particularly necessary, so you can skip the Wayfaring Tree (you don't travel much faster either, unless you plan on crawling everywhere).

Fancier camps don't really yield much greater benefit than the ones you currently have. The first week you put them up, you may get a few compliments for the 'wow' factor but that wears thin quickly. The 'wow' factor will be gone in a few weeks since everyone will have already seen them, anyway. So there's no rush up the Frontiering stack.

The Tracking tree will yield areatrack. That's moderately useful if you hunt a lot. You might want to focus here. Once you get the areatrack range enhancement, it's useful.

And unfortunately, most people don't rely much on the Ranger traps since the scout traps are more useful. So I see no need to rush through the trap stack either. Although some posters have been noting that the Ranger traps areactually working as advertsised since last night, so that may change.

Honestly, I don't know what the long term forecast for this 'Elite' profession is. I'm two bricks away from Master Ranger and I can't think of many thingsthat I wasn't accomplishing as Master Scout.

The things they give us don't work or have no tangible benefit. The things we've been promised don't look all that special either. And figuring that once they grant them to us, they'll make us wait another month before they actually decide to make them work, we'll, I'm not sure there's any need to rush headlong to Master. I guess I'm sticking around for awhile simply because I've got so much time invested, I can't bear the thought of starting all over. But if I knew then what I know now...

I was wondering if I could get some advise. As a new ranger what skill (of the two that use scouting xp) should i concentrate on? A little background I have been playing since the game went retail and I just made novice ranger and that was my goal. I don't make tons of xp per time I am on I enjoy sightseeing. A little information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ivy.

I would never presume to tell someone which way to chose. Everything depends so much on what you enjoy. I personally enjoy camping (I know I'm sick) so that is what I am currently working on. In short do what you enjoy and head that way.

I became a ranger a few days ago but haven't played all that much since. I am currently 1/1/0/0 and going to get tracking 1 tomorrow. I was wondering does areatrack get better cause I am also a creature handler so babies are a big thing for me and so far areatrack hasn't been all that helpful?

Are my harvesting numbers going to get better cause I have a BE friend who needs lots of meat to make me and another ch friend pets but I also need meat for traps and camo kits?

Are camo kits all the good cause I am rarely on naboo tatooine or corellia so is it better to get wayfaring first or tracking first since till wayfaring 3 I won't really use the kits all that often enless asked.

Is the bazaar going to be able to supply enough metal for me for camps and traps or should I run a harvestor?

What marksman profession is a good one to go into cause I am a 3/4/4/4 marksman right now but I can't keep all of it so I would like to know which is better?

Should armor be a big thing for me cause right now the only real armor I am wearing are my boots but I also don't take that many hits cause of my pet and I don't solo all that much.

Also any other tips or tricks that I should know to get exp of all kinds and any real advice would be great. Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

The only thing that I use area track for is searching for players and creature babies, so if you are a CH i would go that way. Tracking is also the tree that gives your your bonuses for harvesting, so if you are going to be gathering meat, again, that is the best route for you to go.

The bazaar should be able to get you all the metal you need. since quality isn't an issue, any metal will do.

I am a rifleman, since i spend most of my time in the prone, the enhanced crawl speed from wafaring is my friend.

I rarely wear armor when I am in the wild, since i used to have creatures, and now I have /concealshot, I don't find myself taking all that much damage with them. That with the fact that the things that I pick on these days would kill me in only a couple of blows even with my adv comp armor. it is just a wast of the armor as well as the money to insure it.

Pickets are some of the best things to work on when trying to get both trapping and harvesting XP. Since you have a creature to tank for you, you should probably be alright. As for camping, I would find a group that doesn't mind fighting from within your largest camp and then just set up and have them attack and heal from within. (you can get regular "scouting" XP from this as well by harvesting creatures without leaving your camp)

These are just some of the things that I did when I was working my way up the Ranger ranks. Never macro grinding once, I only learned of some of these tricks while polishing off my last couple of boxes.

l hope this information is helpful.

Thanks Tibli that will help me out alot. I can send my pet in and just sit in the camp so I can get some ch exp and some camping exp. I am glad that armor isn't a big factor so I am going to get rid of my boots I got them for looks only so I can make some money off those. Rifleman would probly be good for me since my pets are always tanking for me anyway. I hope tracking helps me out more then just harvesting cause I am going to travel alot more to find me some good rare pets.
