Thread: Solo Ranger

If I become a Master Rifleman and a Master Ranger with some medic skills for times when I get charged by a creature that didn't see me use /conceal, how successful will I be at soloing most creatures in the game if I am completely buffed?

I don't expect to solo a krayt, but I want to be able to do just about any dungeon or quest available without relying on finding people to do these with me. I enjoy grouping and it makes hunting that much more fun, but there are times when what I want to hunt isn't what someone else wants to hunt. During those times, I want to be able to solo.

Well I used to be a rifleman/ranger and I really liked the combo. However, I dropped the rifleman skills due to 'sucking ass' in pvp. I picked up BH for the Scatter pistol and LLC weapons. The LLC has been the most effective hunting weapon I've ever used. Hit's for a ton of pts and is faster than the laser rifle and t21 I used to use.

I did have pretty good luck with conceal shot tho...seemed to work fairly well. Mindshot 3 is pretty badass too. The biggest problem was the mind drain. That's the nice thing about using the LLC...as a novice medic I can heal any of the damage I do to myself with LLC specials. Nothing you can do for mind drains.

Just my two creds.

Wow, that looks like a really interesting combination. I've never done the BH route, but the LLC sounds incredibly fun.

Too bad my Holo said Commando. Ah well, I haven't even bothered with the UA line yet.

Question for ya though: do tracking droids for BHers work like Track for Rangers? Or do they just work off of the missions you get from BH terminals? Can they track Players too?

I used to be a BH, and the Tracking tree of the Ranger works well with them. Yea, the LLC is nice, but just wasn't my thing. Hits for good damage...when it hits.(for me anyway, I missed a TON). And to me you need way too much XP to advance in too many things. Like Carbines that I had no use for at all. The Bounty Pistol was nice tho. I kinda wish a Pistoleer could get the cert to use one, because I would definately go Pistoleer for it. My thing with BH was the headache (that and being an Imp was getting boring).

Teras Kasi Master Ranger. U can solo many things with this combos minus Krayts and Kimos. I can definitely takeout anyrancor.

But the best is being able tohealall of the dots that really nasty beasties can give u. The only reasonu will need to go to a city is forBF healing and more buffs if u so desire.

Of course your major downfalls are "Target Out of Range" andhaving only one type of damage(kinetic).

I am a Master Pistoleer/Master Ranger with enough medic to use stim Bs.

Buffed, I will take on Krayts, just give me enough time and no help and I can probably do it. It's the "assistance" I have trouble with, unasked for usually.

I posted my method already, it works for me.

As to dungeons, I wish traps would work, but as they don't, I use stealth and caution. I go slow, draw one target when I can, and really try to drop things quickly.

good luck

Master Rifleman alone is enough to solo anything in the game. The secret is concealshot. It lets you hit a target without causing agro. If you feel like spending a while doing it, krayts are no problem. And, at Master Rifleman and using some chef foods to buff your focus/stamina/strength, you can spray strafeshot2 with impunity. That equals over 5k AoE damage to any unarmored foe. And you can do it at around 1 shot per second. And you would also have a use for the crawl speed bonus of Ranger.

The server would despawn a Kryat before you got through the 300k ham. Unless you get lucky. It is a very tediuos way to hunt a Krayt

Conceal shot is just not really any fun... very dull... I personaly like to be as involved as possible in a battle.. and conceal shot doesn't really let me do that.

I thought Master Rifleman in PVP was a force to be wreckoned with... I wonder why you had trouble?

I tried the Ranger/ LLC combo and it was ok. I seemed to miss a lot though.I also tried Rifleman but I had a hard time fighting stuff without pets or a lot of traps since /concealshot takes forever to kill stuff. Right now I'm a Fencer and it is pretty fun. Oh and JB what do you mean "enough points in medic to use stim Bs" cant you use them at novice?

I really enjoy the Master Ranger, Master CH, Pistoleer combo for solo'ing. I'm still trying to decide whether to keep MCH or shift some of the points over to Pistoleer (currently 3/0/0/0). But I will definitely stay with some mix of these 3 professions for quite sometime. If I decide to drop CH, I would most likely pusue the Master Ranger/BH Combo as they seem well suited to each other.
