OK now I have seen this posted on at least 2 forums. Bria and BH. Bria's first one got deleted, but hey for Bria post deletions is nothing new.

I have not confirmed these articles, so they are still only hearsay, but as many places on the forums I have seen them this morning, with exact wording, who knows. So take it as you will. I thought to post it here, considering how much we intelligently discuss things here, and how much we get actually get done or help each other here on the forums. Take particular note to the IGNPC interview at the bottom.

GI: Getting back to the combat revamp, it seems that you guys first mentioned that back in January.

Blackman: Yeah, I’m not sure exactly when we first mentioned it. We laid out a roadmap, so you’re probably referring to the first roadmap we did. We started this process of putting out roadmaps for the coming months and in that I believe we were very non-committal in saying that this was our plan for the next year or so. Right when we just got done tackling the Jedi Revamp and then the Revamp for the Jedi Trials. That’s another thing I think people are losing sight on. We’re working on a very big update, I mean it’s a massive update. It’s going to change the way people become Jedi and make that path much more acceptable and story driven. I think that’s going to bring a lot to the game, especially considering that we have a wide continent of our community that play the game because of that feature. That update is still scheduled and we’re working really hard on it and it’s in test internally and I think that players are going to be really happy. We’re also starting to talk about it in the development pages as well so we’re getting the community feedback there, so this is the process that we want to have and we want to engage the players at every step in the way so we have everything up in-concept and the designers are now starting to implement things and we starting to test things internally so we’ll be able to roll those things out to test, and get the feedback. But that’s a big and exciting update that’s coming soon.

They say all they did was lay out a roadmap? What about the things TH has been telling us? Look at this quote from TH back on 12-23-03:

************************************************************************

I know a bunch of this is in development, but it really is . The combat system is being rebalanced and going forward, its important to get your critical issues to klawlegna so we can act on it. The big bottleneck is communication and after the holidays, a lot of this will be ironed out and smoother.

Instead of "fixing this" and "tweaking" that and ending up with a wobbly 4 legged table because so many number are over-tweaked, we are just revamping the system, but that takes longer.

I urge you all to help us show the game magazines and the public what we have been told and how SOE is trying to deny it now that our voice is being heard. Cut and paste these quotes and send them to the game magazines and let them know that we will not allow SOE to continue to lie to the the players or the public! With your help we can get these quotes in print in a magazine for all the world to see what SOE is really about! Remember if you do nothing then you change nothing! We have 2 confirmed magazines doing stories now, our voice is being heard!!! Dont sit on the sidelines while your friends work to make this game better.

IGNPC: We often hear the loudest cries from a relative minority. Still, it seems odd that all the comments sent our way have been negative.

Haden Blackman: Yeah, all the guys who are happy with everything are playing the game. They aren't spending their time sending you guys letters or posting on the forums.

That Game Informer interview was good for a laugh.

I'm not sure if Haden is trying to get a job as a political spokesman or if he is really that out of touch. Oh well.

hehe the ign interview was cool.

Seemed like the report was actually speaking on behalf of the readers and expressing the anger thats flowing around whilst still being constructive. Nice work IGN

Yeah odd for IGN. Used to be the "We dont want to make mr dev angry. He'll pull our free subscriptions" news site.

I guess the most reasonable roadmap is:

1. Release JTL for Christmas

2. Hope that most players will move into space. Ground-based game problems can then be safely ignored

3. Promise to fix JTL bugs andto do space combat balance

4. Start working on the new expansion (Yuuzhan Vong wars)due for next Christmas and make it number 1 priority

/sarcasm off

Seriously though, they have to push JTL before CBand have it ready for Christmas to keep people from jumping to EQ II. That's just pure marketing. The sad thing is that they are forgetting that there will be more MMORPG games coming out, and the only way to be competitive is to have a very solidgame expanded withcontent and not byquickly building and piling upnew games into existing one (one day it'llbecome unmaintainable).

Another fun thing is that number - 70 people on JTL design/dvelopment/testing. That's a lot! Really. They could easily spare 10 of them to bug fixing/testing. And we'd feel the improvement quickly.

Yeah alot of new games coming out and marketing has played a large part in the updates.

The ones im looking at prety much is MEO (im DEFINATLY going to try this, but ill probly still suscribe to this or another mmo too) and WOW.

Now WOW was a game that didnt interest me one bit early on, because it seamed, /gasp abit emm, ill think of the word later.

But since that time, ive read some previews that says its the most polished mmo they have ever seen, and thats suprising seeing as though its still in beta and euro beta hasnt even started yet.

So those previews obviously got me alittle interested, so did the hunter profession and the creature handler profession (forgot the name). The vids look realy realy cool with lots of little extras that count for alot of fun, ill definatly check it out.

As for MEO well what can i say, Tolkien's world is the ultimate wilderness, and caters perfectly to people of the wild. Those people being rangers and hunters, all of which are class in meo )

Im very excited about this game.

Back on topic

Yes lots of people are annoyed, gamer mags and sites have picked up on this and hopefully this will be the start of a mini rebellion

I have been following all the posts and threads do to my boring job and I must say SOE is getting alot of negative advertising. I wouldnt say its the minority that is complaining, but the masses.

My reason for following this is my whole WE ARE UNDER PAID BETA TESTERS!!!!! Look at WINDOWS XP updates. OMG back in my early computer days patches and updates didnt happen with bandwith issues. Now on the other hand nothing like the games of today have ever been tried, so basically we are crying to much!! We should be happy in this self serving life we have we can gripe and complain and download 3 trillion bites of info a second.

/step of podioum of confusion.

Am I correct in saying that the Combat Revamp went to test center for like one day and then they pulled it?

This was like 5 months ago I believe.

I thought I remember them saying something like, well we were gonna release it but we realise it needs more work, so lets not push it thru and let us work on it more.??

I don't know.

I think the combat revamp is gonna suck anyway, so many people will be pissed they cant solo rancors and mokks that its gonna open up a whole new can of worms.

Oh, and squid...this is a great place for previously deleted threads because the Dev's never lookhere.

There was a HAM system change that was on TC, but I don't think the CB was ever there...

If you read between the lines, that means no attention for rangers until sometime next year. Man I hate being right sometimes.

Nothing says we wont get attention. Your reading way between the lines there. They will at least through us a bone or two.

I have since read the full article from the Gamer Info interview, which is linked on the main SWG webpage. Talk about some smoke and mirror political moves on Blackman's part. Convinient how he only focused on the "good" stuff they did work on.
