I know I enjoyed it pre-CU.
I'm also MCH / MR and I love it. With the use of traps and a good selection of pets, I do fairly well I think. I dont group much at all, I like exploring too much. I have found that pets with a ranged attack go a lot better with my traps. I currently use a CL70 shear mite I found on Dathomir. If I let the pet do a little damage before I jump in with my rifle, the pet seems to keep agro better. I also have to be careful of the specials that I use so as not to pull agro from my pet. Hopefully this will be addressed as Paks mentioned.

I did respec however, from Marksman 4114 to Novice BH and Marksman 32-4 ( I had already gathered enough xp to retrain from Marskmant 11-4 to 31-4). I think with the new pistol skills and attack/defense mods I get from nov. BH instead of the Marksman 4xxx box, I will be a little bit more viable.
I will not give in to giving up either Ranger or CH!

Okay so I am looking at Master Creature Handler and Master Ranger along with BH 0-0-3-0, as mentioned earlier this is not main char but one that I do use a l fair bit.
Whilst I do not expect to be able to solo like I did pre-CU am I correct in thinking that with the correct tactics I still should do okay with this template
I'm getting 0-0-3-0 for pistols rather than carbines.
It gives you Confusion Shot and Improved Underhand Shot and +2 extra melee defence - advantage over 0-3-0-0? None probably!

I liked the Underhand line, which is a knockdown. Handy for when a trap fails. 0020 gives a stun / dizzy instead of the aoe spray 0200 gives.
0300 gives 2 less to ranged defense but 2 more to General Ranged Speed then 0030.

I dont think the weapon actually matters. I had novice rifle, but I also keep a carbine and a pistol on me for capping all the weapons exp to convert to FS exp. Thats another thing I really liked about the BH boxes. The abilities affect all of my ranged weapons, not just my rifle like the rifle line in marksman did.
All good advice, and I keep forgetting about the any weapon can use any special thing (shows his true vet colours...)
0-0-3-0 does give you a couple of shot varieties, however as a Master Smuggler, Master BH, 0-0-04 Pistoleer with my main toon I tend to overlook those for other shots and use the critical shot. However, I am not a combat specialist with this char and chose 0-0-3-0 for the kd/dizzy shots rather than higher dmg output - swings and roundabouts really!
