Something just went "PHUUUMPH" inside my head after wandering acros a mention in the 'concerns' post of the hats, in the resource thread about the crafting of camps and remembering the mini-quest thread a week or so ago (Mat Raggs bols skull)
OK. Gotta get this out before the brain fogs over again.
NPC quest.
Series of short missions, leading to a schematic for... A Ranger Hat that gives a crafting bonus to traps and cammo (and maybe a stinky little cammo/mask bonus like that nice rucksack the Rebels get does)
All the OTHER crafters get a schematic for a belt or an apron or somesuch. So, it sort of makes sense. And it'd be a nice Holiday present for us, seeing as it'll take till the end of December to get ingame if the Dev's just stop all that faffing around with spaceships and the jimjam gang....
(Except I have this horrible sick feeling that we'd end up with a fluorescent orange safety Hunters Vest instead.... )

It would be content but I would guess they'd make it a scout level thing so more people can get involved. But it seems like a great idea.

I really want something other than the swoop helm or "decorative headdress" to wear. The headdress works for Bothans, makes them near to normal height. The swoop helm just looks dumb. I have a helmet from way back - rebel ROTJ type Endor - but won't wear it as it decays.
This is a fine idea. Most of the Rangers are not using a hat slot now.
Reversible poncho? That went out in WWII with the Marines (brown side out, green side out). Besides, that is too "gunfighterish".

I wear that same rebel helmet from ROTJ.By the wayJB, as far as I know (I could be wrong), clothing can be worn at 0 condition. almost all of my clothes are 0 or low. but they aren't bio, so maybe that would be affected by condition.

Yes, the title is correct, I believe we need a Ranger HAT.
I believe the Rangers deserve a selfish item that only Rangers can use.
Is it eye candy? Yes it is.
Is it Ranger only? Yes it is.
Do we want it now? Yes we do.
Art Design? Design should be a combination of Fedora/Indiana Jones Style/Cowboy Hat. Low brim that gives Rangers that mysterious look. With a mini-cape/veil along the back of the hat just shoulder length is to eliminate the problem the Imperial Hat has with hair styles.
The SOLE purpose of the mini-cape is for appearance and to remove the hair style art work problem.
Who makes it? Master Ranger, any color.
What is it made from?Bone, Hide.
Who can wear it? Novice Ranger and up ONLY.
Sockets? ZERO
Abilities? ZERO
Reason? EYE CANDY
The point of the Ranger Hat is a symbol of Rangerdom. This community has waited a LONG time for a Revamp and we all know we are going to be waiting a lot longer. The news that the Combat Revamp AND JTL has zero to do with Rangers as a class hurt alot of us deep inside, but, being Rangers we carried on.
This small, zero balance affecting game item is for appearances only and would go along way to making the Rangers feel like we are still remembered in this game.
A little bit of art work time is all that is needed, just modify the art off a sunguard or helm.
I know, asking for art work projects is selfish and demanding, well, dangitt, we deserve some eye candy.
Some may say this is an un-rangerish request, fine, I will shoulder that burden this one time.

Well, my vote would for it to look like some kinda cowboy hat!
Wear it while a musician armed with mandoviol performs the new twangy Techno-Western song in your HTFB. Rockin'!

I love the idea of ranger-ish apparel - including hats! Although I agree with Fodder... if they did implement a hat it would probably be for scouts as well. That's okay - they can have their orange hat as long as ours is the only one with the albatross feather

I added scouts only because if its a broad enough audience maybe it will get implemented. Limiting it us Rangers might deter them. Otherwise Id say to make our hat ranger only.

I think we should have an fedora type hat!
Not only would it look good, but I can then fufill my vision and make a SWG movie called "Punxatony Phil and the Temple of Exar Kun". The daring exploit of a ground-hog archeologist (played by a Bothan character of course) who explores a ruined jedi temple on Yavin. However, to discover the lost secrets inside he must battle ruthless sith cultists and his fear of his own shadow, with only his faithful sockmonkey to assist him!

Fodder: ( I think) Yep, that's the post I was thinking back to when the whole schematic / quest / limited 'certification' came to mind. Downside, only problem with hats is wookiees, twileks and all those weird shaped headed species....

Sorry no socks in game. And weird shaped heads arent always that way. My mon cal crafter can wear all hats and it looks funny.
