So Rangers?

How have you been living?

How has the Ranger evolved since launch given the limitations of the current skill set?

What niche have you found in the Galaxy?

Master Rifleman/Ranger seems to be the formidable template.

Still having fun?

Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other. I've
seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything to make me
believe there's one all-powerful force controlling everything. There's
no mystical energy field that controls my destiny.

not much changed really...

Sense launch: Camo kits and the /conceal command. This can get you killed if you fail badly. You can apply this to others and they had it working on NPC's (like a /maskscent for NPC's), but then removed it, making it much weaker then the cost of making kits. Most just use /maskscent now.

/areatrack - Unless the server spawned it, you don't know it's there. Very bad on places the server has wiped to save memory... generally not usefull in low trafficed areas. High trafficed areas and special beasts/NPC's can be found this way, if you luck out, giving you an edge. Most just use a speeder and cover the area directly.

camps were nerfed (not really, just that you don't need them to pull out pets and vehicles. Now camps are truely useless...)

Harvesting and trap throwing droids. Harvest droids are most sutable for Rifleman, it's faster by hand for everyone else. Trap droid better be well armored, or you will loose it. I personally didn't bother with the latter.

I think ranger has evolved.. from a lifestyle to an actual mental illness(see the hawtpants conspiracy).

How have you been living? Off of loot drops, since I don't sell resources.

How has the Ranger evolved since launch given the limitations of the current skill set? I abstain.

What niche have you found in the Galaxy? I am a hunter. My niche is hunting for my guild.

Master Rifleman/Ranger seems to be the formidable template. It is indeed. There isn't much I can't take solo and there isn't anything I can't take if I have a Doctor tanking for me.

Still having fun? Everyday, bud. Everyday .

Nice to see you back here.

As for Ranger, it's still about the same as when you last posted here (well, unless you count the Meat Wagon). Lately, I'vebeen using my Ranger skills only for travel (without maskscent, camo, terrain negotiation, and burst run efficiency, I'd probably be dying a lot more often). Most lately I've been living on my pilot skills (you make quite a bit of money up there)but I had been living off of meatlump/ragtag drops for a bit before that (it's amazing how much money you can make just by killing meatlumps, although the force luck probably helps a bit). But it's been fun. Hope you stick around a bit.

Ranger is for sure a lifestyle, not for average gamers or powergamers.

I agree with the answers above, with the addition that TKM/Master Ranger is a great combo. It's the melee equivalent of Rifleman/Ranger. TKM has awesome damage output, great defences, and the meditate allows you to easily solo with no buffs or armor, nearly any creature in the game. And melee works very well for Ranger, since 99% of the creatures are melee attackers.

Oh I add that Ranger has still not gotten any more traps beyond the meesly 2 given at launch, compared to 11 traps in scout.

Difficult to say... I'm starting to think I'm a ranger in name only. I don't hunt, I'm clearing Tatooine of Tusken and Dune Marauders or whatever they are called for weapons xp, filling a few wholesale orders for meat and, like a few other replies, surviving off loot.

/maskscent and /conceal certainly make tending to my harvesters easier, and I've got these vendors to tend to....

Ranger it's not a profession it's... Nah, you've got me there.

Still, only six or seven months till the revamp. Mustn't grumble.

Maybe it's not that you are becoming less of a Ranger but that Rangers are becoming less creature centric. Resource hunting is only part of one of our linesand the main reason people get that tree is for tracking (including NPC and player tracking). Conceal works on NPCs (part of the time, but extremely usefully when it does work). Terrain Negotiation and Burst Run Efficiency don't care about the situation they are used in. Traps only work on creatures but we all know that it's just a bug that the Devs turned into a feature (I wish, but the dizzy traps do point to that a little bit). And camps are, well, camps (but used only for player reasons--the creature repelling reasons are now broken). I still use Ranger skills (or scout equivalents--I don't always crawl around and the conceal resource use makes it a bit more special purpose for me) almost every time I log in. Just because you don't use some of the Ranger skills (harvesting, traps, etc) doesn't make you less of a Ranger. Trust me, you'd miss a lot of the skills if you dropped Ranger for a little bit.

How have you been living?
Hunting Endor with Radiant Paks and her narglatch. Solo grouping with my lvl 68 Rancor to get missions.
Perfecting my trapping technique with TC Paks, trying to see figure out the biggest con red creature I can take down with no buff and no armor. And how many of them at a time.

How has the Ranger evolved since launch given the limitations of the current skill set?
We have become the hunters and resource gatherers of the game. Survival and exploration has kind of fallen by the wayside.

What niche have you found in the Galaxy?
Several niches, all with good firends. Gather resources for my Randiant guild, help out new players when I have the chance. Send my non-combat characters on suicide missions through the Corvette. Blow stuff up in space.

Master Rifleman/Ranger seems to be the formidable template.
Can't argue here.

Still having fun?
Yes. Even more so now than 6 months ago.

Been trying to get those cool people to turn non-lazy and stop grinding Jedi so that we can have an even more active AR guild on Radiant.

^Fixed.

Yeah, if you just mass email me "Get your lazy -edited for content- moving and get some Ranger meetin's together, Rhy! Jedi is not all it is meant to be!" I may actually stop grinding Jedi. Well, ok, I wont. But I will grind faster so i can get my last box Then my alt takes over my spot in AR.

That's very true. I dropped Ranger, against my own wishes, about 10 months ago. I am now a MCH. I miss crawling around at high speed, and being able to see creature levels. Plus, it was fun to be able to pull out a massive tech base in the middle of nowhere. I hope to be a Ranger again someday. For now, I'll stick with CH.

I hear you man, I just dropped it because i'm going be for a while (want to create my own monsters). It's so stupid a CREATURE handler has less knowledge than a ranger. IMO they should both give a bonus to knowledge and max control level.
