Wow, thats all me and Zaw can say lol. We are running around just looking at places again lol.

For those that done know, the range at which we can see buildings, camps and pois has been increases ALOT.

We are gathering pics atm, ill be back in 5 mins with a HTFB pic, well Zaw will as im the one with the camp. Here are a few to whet your appetite though:

Um I went back to the places I found for testing my graphix setings and not lick of difference. I've had my draw distance jacked up to max for a long time though.

No difference?Buildings used to despawn after 30 seconds or so if you were more than 200m away or something daft like that. We are over 1k from each other and can still see the camp hehe.

Yup, in Pub 11 I spotted a HTFB at 1200m. I thought it was one, so I droped a wp and walked up to it. If there are low number of things loaded around me I can spot stuff at 1800m. Not offten but it has happened.

I think something changed before this an you just didn't notice, lol. Or maybe there was a steath up date to load handling for you card type. Or some other thing that brought you inline with me for the distance stuff.

I don't have a Uber set up for this game either. 2 Mhz cpu, 768 Ram, and a 128 meg. GF FX 5200. I have most of the setings other than draw distance low. And I have the pixel shader turned down to Ver. 1.4 so I get at least a few frames per sec.

Ok I went back and jacked my pixel shader up (realy only makes lighting look good). Loaded in Eisley walked out side and got this pic. The wp you can see just near the Cantia door is 500m away. If I loged right there and came back I would only see about as far as the space port, but that's loading for you. It's kinda hit or miss what will load for me, and at what distance.

Either way glad you can see really far now, its a nice thing to have.

Eisley has always looked this way to me.

A night one just for good mesure.

Then earlier me and Zaw where treading on the thinest ice bloody possible in the graveyard and set up camp in the only 2 free camp spots there hehe. We could see each other for all the time we were there. Here check me out waving to him a very very long ways away: Click Me!

Like kids with a new toy. Awe!

Or as the little anime girl in be wants to say, KAWAII!

Um since you guys are have loads of fun with this could you do a PC-Tech a favor? I've been working on a little SWG tunning guide since a started this game and saw all the ones that exist are junk.

I notice you have shadows on, your pixel shader set to optimal, etc. if you could just tell me the basic specs of you box (RAM, CPU speed, basic stuff about your vid card), and what kind of frame rates you are geting, that would rock. You can bring up the network monitor in options, um I forget which part... its in there. It will tell your your FPS. I bet 100k you already knew that, but whatever.

And if you don't feel like it... all good, I'm almost done with the guide anyway.

draw distances are up (on TC), even if the patch notes don't indicate it.

structures like Theed's starport are clearly visible at two klicks (from my house, I can usually see the arch with the two horses on it. now I can see the rest of the city... all of it... in the distance).

player city structures appear at about the same range, and also appear on the overhead map (no more late popup of structures). player cities look like cities.

Owen's HTFB, across the maw of the Krayt Graveyard range? about 600m. we could also see a player house out the mouth of the canyon about 1.5km away.

Lake Retreat, Naboo range? about 1km+.

the hard part is showing how this draw distance covers 2km in almost every case. finding a vantage point 2km away without a hill in the way is harder than you might think. that, and the server just went down.

I'm still curious to see how fireworks draw into all this. if they draw to 1km, then I'll have to start making crates and finding fools to shoot them off while I stand outside and oooh and ahhh.

if you want to see for yourself how this is looking... go to a player city like NU (nw of theed) or SS (NW of entha). take a look around. find a hill. pull up the overhead map. it really looks amazing. in particular, SS has rock spires and arches which now DRAW, rather than pop-up.

the box I'm running on specs out like this: p4 2.8 (1 physical processor, 2 logical) 512mb RAM (DDR2), GeForce FX5200 with 256mb RAM (on a PCI slot, since my box lacks an AGP), vertex/pixel shading at 2.0, directX 9.0, 1024x768 screen. I generally run at a solid 30 FPS with the terrain and detail sliders down or mid-down, and shadows off. for screenshots, I run all the sliders up, turn on volumetric shadows, and watch my FPS drop to 12-17 for most operations.

since I just moved to this box from a celerocket (and blazed across the skies in JTL at a whopping 3-9 FPS), you'd think that I'd be able to handle the mid-teen FPS rates better... but now that I've seen what 30 FPS looks like, it's really hard. to. go. back. to. the. slide. show. I can kill my FPS fast enough on a speeder travelling through any static city on tat.

EDIT: added info.
