Hi, names LandStander, Novice Ranger on the Kauri server. I am a novice pikeman as well and I have carbine skills. My question is, how do I go about making some good money with my ranger skills? From what I know and have done forever is just run back and forth doing various missions. I started doing Rcon mission back and forth from one city to the next but I noticed that another mission option for explorere terminals is where I hunt like 45 of a certain type of creature. Whats an easy way of doing this and not dieing? All the creatures on those are ones you hardly ever see like one I did was for the hermit spider queen and it was the first I did and I killed tons of hermit spiders, thinking i had to killthose, then the queen came out and I had to run away a few tims because I was about to die butI finally killed her and it said I had 44 more to go.....it's like what the hell?!? I have to find 44 of those bstrds and kill them all. I never have tons of money, the most I have had is 30K and that took forever to get. Please tell me how you finance yourself with the Ranger profession. Like do people buy hides, bones, meat alot on the bazaar and about how much of it for how many $$ should I list them for. Thanks

Best thing to do is harvest as much high quality (900+ OQ ) organics and talk to Doc's about selling them. You can make quick money this way. As for hunting, make sure you spend the 10+K to get buffed before you go hunting, the 3hours that you are buffed will provide more than enough rewards to cover your buff.

There are sevearl tools out there for trying to keep up with the best hides/meat that docs and armorers etc are looking to buy...if there is ever a very rare good spawn, docs will often post on our trade boards asking for that particular meat. I would keep up with swgcraft.com and just keep an eye out...often times you can sell outright or even stockpile then sell really good organics to make some money.
Its not a rich business like being a weaponsmith or Doc, but it brings some money in.

Okies, I am probably the worst one to give advice on earning money round these aprts, given that am usually skint, but...
Off the Explorer terms you'll get Recon and Hunting missions. The recons are simple go to point A and fly near the waypoint. Take two in the same direction, try and pick the direction there's a town to get a return mission, etc. OK, you already know that. No worries.
Hunting missions. Some waffly story and 'go kill 15 / 45 of these things' for a few k. You already found out that you need to kill exactly what the mission asks for and, in some cases, these can be tough to find. The time / kill / credits mix is pretty bad on these, in that you spend a lot of time killing a lot of critters and only earn a few k.
OK, the Bazaar. When you're hunting, go after one type of resource. ie, hunt (in a session) for hide or bone. If its good quality, fair enough. If it's rubbish, harvest it anyway and stick it on the bazaar for a couple of credits per unit. I know when I was grinding artisan I'd buy any old tat for 2cpu, regardless of quality, as it was just going into practise mode.
Sell in stacks of 1000 units. Keeps things neat. Also gives you a 'target' to work to.
OK, all of those will keep you a) busy and b) pay for the rent on a house or for buying a speeder.
You want to earn megabucks? You're going to have to watch the local auction and planet chat for people looking for organics, then go get them for them. (See the sticky about hiring a ranger, as it gives or inks to some good info on what you ought to be asking about resource names, quantity, so forth)
Get friendly with your local doctor / armorsmith and harvest the type of organics they need. You might find that you're sometimes working for credits and sometimes working for buffs / replacement armour. Either way it gets you what you want and gets them what they need.
Biggest question you've got to ask yourself though, what do you need credits for? If it's just for a set of buffs once an evening and to put a little aside to replace armour, that'll set the level of work you're going to put in. If it's to join the Millionaires Club, well, your' going to have to focus on hunting, harvesting and selling fast and hard.
Dunno how much help that's been, lol, but some of the Richer Rangers will be along soon

Actually with the right spawns. You can get pretty rich from it. What you want to do is like the poster above said. Go to www.swgcraft.com and keep up on http://www.swgcraft.com/currentresources.php?server=10&planet=99 thats the list all materials available. If you click on Creature Resources and see that its over 12 days old. Go look to see if its a new spawn.
The short list
Avian meat high OQ/High PE
Herbivore Meta same
Wooly/Leather hide High OQ/SR (decent mall helps but isnt necessary)
Go onto the Kauri forums and do
"What organics are needed"
"Ranger for hire what do you need killed"
Posts like that will get you replies of docs, BE's, AS's will tell you whats in spawn that they want. And the price they pay. Once you do this a few times. Ask them to put you on a mailing list for when they are looking for organics. Steady business is good. Plus if its an AS your taking care of sometimes you can ask politiely for a discount on armor if you've been good to each other.
Right now your Endor Leather is hot. Im sure the Armorsmiths are asking for it. SWGcraft only got updated on it a day ago. So it should be good for awhile. Oh and what drops it? www.swgcreatures.com advanced search

If you know a BE. They will want the current Dath Insect meat for Pet Stim C's. But its a small kind of contract. Those first to will be your big money makers.
Hope this helps good luck. And tell when you get rich. BTW those are Kauri i listed above and not Bloodfin

Trade forums. Look for things like "Dathomir Avian for 80 cup" and "Dant Herbi for 65+ cpu". Those posts will make you rich if you act on them.
Knowing a dedicated set of customers helps too...

Hi Landstander,
Hydra has some good tips in his post above. In addition, you can make lots of money eventually by being a ranger. Last night I earned 600k for tracking some krayts for some jedi for about 15-30 minutes, and at the same time I was killing banthas for wooly hide @ 60cpu.
Just /chat join RIN, drop in and say hi, or just monitor that channel to see what's in shift and who is offering what. Docs always want Avian and herbivore and will pay large amounts. Chefs want certain types of meat... insect, carnivore, and sometimes scaley hide. And Bio Engineers want everything and are always buying. There's also a really useful thread in this forum:
A Ranger Creature Resource Guide
Currently on Kauri, Avian on dathomir sells for 150cpu -- Tatooine Wooly @ 60-70cpu -- Rori Insect @ 60cpu. That should provide plenty of income. As I mentioned before, and as it says in my sig

Except one, don't look for me at my stated times. I'm having a lovely time at the lab so I'll be staying late... I'll probably be on later tonight but if you give the RIN a holler I'm sure some other ranger will help you out, show you the hot spots, and put you to work. If not I'll still be on so you can pass the time killing Banthas for wooly or any of the other resources Kimi listed.
I am the of the unbuffed/unarmored flavor as well, so someone else could probably show you the ropes for that stuff. Just like the song:
"Just my pony, rifle, and me"
And I'll take my hat off to anyone that knows the movie that song was in.

1. Master a combat class. Anything. Quit dabbling. You will get better missions.
2. Go to Endor. 10k missions for unarmed players are very close to the starport. Unarmed, meaning if you use a weapon, do not have it equipped. Do not take spider missions or hanadak missions. Birds, bordoks and bluurgs are fun. But only if you have mastered.
3. 2 missions = 14k profit, more or less. You should have at least 1k of meat, preferably herbivore. On my server there are several places to sell any meat, regardless of stats, for 10cpu.10k more. 24k profit and thats on 2 missions.
4. Explorer missions are dumb. Ignore them.Never do them. Ever. Pretend the terminals don't exist, they are for BHs wanna-besgoing tthrough scout who think the missions are good. They blow.
5. Make friends with a tailor, a BE and a Doc. Find out what they want, need, desire and get it. Not on contract, that is too much like work. Just get enough to make a good chunk of change. Never sell on the bazaar, the prices are too low.
Does it work? You tell me, last I looked there was 15.1 mil in my bank account. I made over a mil this weekend alone selling two types of meat.
Now, go master a weapon, You will probably master Ranger at the same time. A win/win situation.

Sweet, thank you all for the great information. I am excited about being a Ranger again. I'll probly just drop a line to all the members in the guild I just joined and see if they need anything. I can't wait to get some good contacts and have the money start rolling in.
