This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I'm actually on a dry spell. normally I'd be emptying handles of bourbon into my gullet, but I've been staying away from the sauce to stave off the possibility of a nasty cough/cold/fluwhatever lodging itself in me.

I expect to give myself a clean bill of health come sunday... and then MY weekend starts (I'm a bartender, so I have an offset week).

You know they have groups to help you with your coffee addiction. I don't know if your aware or not but with one less starbucks coffee a day you could afford to buy a town in less then a year.

what's incredible is I completely forgot that I posted this last night. I was like-- what IDIOT would start a thread titled "Blarg.....". Aparently I'm that idiot. And apparently I spell better when I'm drunk. Go figure.

So Phenix, are you familiar with the term "lost weekend"?

I don't miss it. You can only play the morning after game of 'where the hell did I leave my car' so many times before it gets dull. Ugh. I rarely have more than one beer a month now (and said beer damn well better be from the pacific northwest)

I myself am a Guiness fan (the real stuff, around St. James Gate--not the bottled crap in America), but I have to say, one of the best beers I've ever had was is a tiny little pub in Austria. Ended up dancing and singing a few German folk songs on the tables with a couple of the the local females*.

*note: I do not know how to dance or how to sing, nor how to speak German.

Guiness (Irish stout) is good stuff. So is Hoegaarden (Belgian white). While there are plenty of good beers around, those arenice for having a black and a white beer, both with flavor. But don't get the Guiness Extra Cold. That's for wusses, Jedi, and BHs.

There's a pub in town here that serves 'real ale' and speciality beers form microbreweries. OOOOH it can make for a great evening.

Once they crack open one barrel they won't open another type till that ones finished. If the place is busy they will also ration folk to half a pint only.

You can find yourself being poured into a taxi, merrily buzzing away, and convinced you've only had a couple of pints all night..... but by heck, its good.

With this thread and a conversation on another mailing list I am on diving into a discussion about regional pork butchers I can see me falling off of several wagons all at once this week

In '98 I drank myself silly in England and Scotland, but I've never been to any other parts of europe. There were many UK beers that I liked. (Trying to get the key to go into thedoor to my room in Inverness after a few too many Mcewans was a fun game, albeit time-consuming.) However, there are several excellent breweries here in the pacific northwest that could hold their own against any european brewery.

Anybody who lives in oregon or washington and still drinks mass-produced domestic crap is a damned fool. Yeah, I hardly drink at all anymore, but I can still be passionate about it.
