right, if any forum leader comes along and complains, they should lose their job for not having a heart. I would donate if I could, but alas and alack, I have not enough to donate.

I’m sorry for posting this here, its not that im trying to voice the issue against forum guidelines, but that ive met a lot of kind and generous rangers in my time in SWG (most of you here) and I think all of you share your concerns and sadness for the tens of thousands killed and still missing.
Im sure that all of you aware, but for those that have not yet heard, on the 26th of December and earthquake in the Indian Ocean created a massive tsunami just off the coast of Indonesia. Travelling at over 500mph (800km/h) in deep water the waves crashed into all the coastal countries of the Indian Ocean, most notably Sri Lanka and Indonesia being the worst effected. The wave in some places rose water levels by 200feet and carried waves 30ft to some distant cities.
The devastation was horrendous with villages, cities and even whole islands being wiped out by the tsunami. The death toll so far reaches beyond 140,000 with that figure expected to rise considerably over the coming weeks as more and more bodies are recovered. Indonesia alone has a current death toll of 94,000+ with Sri Lanka following with 30,000, this is beyond a doubt, one of the worst disasters the world has witnessed in modern times.
The devastation is massive with homes, families and settlements completely wiped out. But the crisis is by no means over. Hundreds of thousands of people have nowhere to go or sleep, no food to eat and no clean water to drink. If enough aid doesn’t arrive soon the death toll could double through disease (according the UN Aid Agency). People are dying as we speak from the after effects of the tsunami but we can help.
Aid agencies from all over the world have united in bringing help to the effected areas and are calling on everyone who can to help in some way. We are not talking about having to pledge every penny you own, i am a student and don’t have a lot of money available to me but through making an effort and putting a hold on certain personal luxuries ive got around £200 this month. I know its not a lot in terms of the overall effort that is needed but every penny counts. I know its a tough time after Christmas and the new years celebrations and money can be hard to come by, but even sending your condolences and prayers to those effect will still be a massive boost, but try if you can to help those effected by donating as much as you can.
For those in the UK or Europe who are able to help in any way, here is a list of some official charities and relief raising agencies that are directly involved with the relief effort: (Details taken from the BBC website)
One of the main organisation is the DEC, the disasters emergency committee. I have used these as have many of my family and friends so i will recommend these but there are many organisations out there who are participating in the relief effort.
The Disasters Emergency Committee - is an umbrella group of UK aid organisations - including Action Aid, British Red Cross and Oxfam - working to provide clean water, food and shelter to thousands. To call from the UK, dial 0870 60 60 900.
The United Nations World Food Programme - is seeking donations to feed victims of the earthquake.
Medecins Sans Frontieres - is sending aid workers to the region, focusing on medical care for survivors and displaced people after the rescue operations.
The United Nations Children's Fund, Unicef - is working to meet the "urgent needs of hundreds of thousands of people" affected by the tsunami disaster.
The UN refugee agency, UNHCR - which has been helping victims of conflicts in Indonesia and Sri Lanka, is delivering relief supplies to tsunami survivors in both countries.
Save the Children - has already flown a plane out to Sri Lanka carrying plastic sheeting for temporary shelter, tents to run children's services from and essentials such as clothing and cooking utensils.
Once again im sorry if i go against the forum guidelines by posting this apeal, the reason i post is because i feel many rangers and players alike are very kind and generous people, so i know the appeals won’t fall on deaf ears. Even if you can only send your thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families then that would be greatly appreciated. Remember every penny counts, we CAN help.
Owen/Thor/Chris
NOTE: If anyone has the contact details of any other aid agencies from their country i would be very grateful if you could send them to me, thanks.

Dont worryRhyeal, I'm in the same boat as you. I dont have alot of monetary funds to spare, but I do have the gift of life, Blood. I went down to my local Red cross blood bank and gave my pint to the cause
So those of you that can, I encourge you to consider the same if you cant give anything else

Every penny counts, even donating your spare change after shopping using the red cross boxes is a great help.

I have always been a suporter of giving blood and do so whenever i have the chance. If you aren't afraid of needles and are in good shape, there is nothing to fear. Past the first time, i was never worried, so once you do it once, you'll likely be able to do it again.
Please, if you don't have a fear of needles or of giving blood, find a local blood bank and give. This is a time when all humanity must come together. If anyone lives in Wyoming (especially around Jackson) and needs encouragement/help, please let me know. I'll be giving blood as soon as I can and I would be happy to help you if you need it.
Money is great if you have it-- and every bit helps...but blood can't be bought-- sometimes there simply isn't enough.
I am proud to be part of a community that has this up on their forum. I'd go so far as to say this deserves a temporary sticky. Thanks Owen, for openeing the gateway for us to talk about this here. I'd be disgusted in the mods tried to take down a thread based upon such good intentions.

I'm gonna head over to amazon.com right now and make a donation. i'd probalby just spend the money on a DVD or CD or something, but this is a much better use of the money.

Wow, if anyone is looking to donate money to the Red Cross for the Relief fund, Amazon.com is a great way to do it. 1 click, type in the dollar amount, and one more click and i was done.
They have received almost 14 million dollars US so far. it's great to see so many people coming together to help others.

This is far too important to be worrying about it being in the "correct" forum.
Well done on an important post.
