Thread: What am I doing wrong with this macro?

I tried to set up a camping macro today. It was:

/ui action toolbarSlot01;

/pause 4000;

/ui action toolbarSlot02;

/pause 4000;

Let's stop right here, because it didn't even get this far. In case you didn't figure out, I put the macro on the first toolbar slot (toolbarSlot00, that is, or the F1 key's corresponding slot), and I put my camps in the rest of the slots.

When I run the macro, nothing happens. No camp is made (in a spot that is camp capable...tested that) at all. It doesn't even seem to get past that first step, much less the next steps. It doesn't even set up the camp.

So what am I doing wrong?

Not sure what the timer seconds limit is but I use 3070 for my pause time it drops a new camp after about a minute and a half give or take. So it would be this for your pause line

/pause 3070;

your syntax is right, and a pause time of 4000 is 1 hr, 6 mins and some change.

no idea why it wouldn't be working, unless you're doing something simple like riding a bike while activating, etc.

is there any error message when line 1 (slot f2 hit) resolves?

No error message at all, it's actually quite weird...nothing happens. It's almost like it just skips the first command altogether.

I'm going to try again tonight when I get home, just using the /ui action toolbarSlot01 and work from there...I'll let you guys know.

What is wrong with it - simple, it's a macro.

Try hunting parties and camping with them, more xp all around, way more fun, and lots faster.

Unless of course you are a grinder - then ignore the above, get your badge and drop the profession before you give us a bad name.

Macros are for morons, still

Thank you for your helpful and insightful comments.

By the way, I do hunting parties with my PApretty much every night, but I'm also a grinder, and yes, I would like to grind the camping line as quickly as possible.I don't know what you're doing in camps or what fantasy world you live in, but the groups I'm in don't find it fun to sit in camps...pretty much ever. Short of pulling a quick basic camp to get your pets and/or vehicles out (1-2 minutes tops), everyone is pretty much ready to move on with the hunt. Sorry, I don't want to take a year to grind the whole line. And for what purpose anyway?

But look, buddy, I'm paying my $15 a month just the same as you are. You play your way, I'll play mine. I don't judge your style of play, why do you feel the need to judge mine? How does my using a macro (a built in game mechanic)to camp affect your play in any way?

Please answer, I'm actually very interested why you would even bother taking the time to post this.

I am confused....do you want the easiest or the fastest? If you craft camps you have to be atk, but can get through it in a matter of hours. If you macro camp, it can take A LOT LONGER. I have perfected a macro (sorry JB) for crafting meds, that can be applied to crafting tents. It is the same as the "normal" crafting one with a twist. If you like, I will post it for you, but it is too involved to post if you are not interested.

Actually, I don't mind being at the keyboard, soI'd kind of prefer the fastest. Truth be told, this is actually the first macro I ever planned on using AFK. The only other macros I use are armor macros, simple heal macros, etc. I've already mastered Scout 3 times by actually being there. I don't like using AFK macros just because...well...why have a game play for you. But I was willing to make a concession in this case considering I figured sitting in camp is the only way to really get survival xp and just sitting in camp isn't really "playing" anyway.

Is there any way you could post or send that macro and what I need to do to use it? Would be much obliged...

Thanks in advance

My uber crafting macro is as follows:

Place 4 crafting kits (weapon droid and generic) in the first 4 slots of an empty toolbar.You will need to make 4 macros with this code structure:

/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/selectDraftSchematic xx;
/pause 5;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype Practice NoItem;
/createPrototype Practice NoItem;
/pause 5;
/ui action toolbarSlot05;

I generally put the four toolkits in F1-F4 I put 4 variations of this macro in F5-F8. This will create a continuous loop. I set up my mouse to have one of the buttons be a double-click as this allow me to only have to click one each resource once to fill the slot. The first pause 5 is to select the resource, so you may need to adjust that time. The last line moves to the next version of this macro. That version will be changed to /ui action toolbarSlot01; for the first line and /ui action toolbarSlot06; for the last line. repeat for the next 2, but for the last line, loop it back to the first macro. This macro is tailored to crafting med compoonents, so you may have to add longer pauses or even more macros and kits. All commands are case sensitive as shown.

Note on numbering slots: Slots are numbered from 00 starting with F1.

Note on schematic numbers: I learned this little gem recently. You can find the number of the schematic you want to use by counting schematics in your datapad/draft scheamatics section. To find the number of the schematic, you only need to count items that can be made with that tool and those that are available to you. These numbers also start ot 00. Example: If you are crafting camps using a weapon, droid, generic kit, and you only have scout and ranger crafting skills you only need to count camps and traps to find the schematic number.

I tried to make this as clear as possible so if you need clarification, please let me know.

you don't need the 3rd next crafting stage and if you right all 4 on the smae macro with a 2 second pause inbetween and a 5 second pause before loop it's a lot easier.

It's really simple, actually. He's probably one of those early players, who had to do things the hard way, barefoot, in the snow, 10 miles, uphill both ways. Of course he's going to see the macros, which have been in the game since beta but who's potential wasn't fully realized by the whole playing community until fairly recently (more precisely: The Great Holocron Patch), as cheating. He probably also doesn't use weblinks or shortcuts, preferring to type all urls in manually and doesn't own a remote controll, a microwave oven or an automobile.

Yup, you can tailor this macro any way you want (I prefer 4 macros so I can debug them more easily when I write them). As for that third /nextcraftingstage, I believe itskips the experimentation stage if you are near a crafting station. So no, you don't necessarily need it....

If you use items that take 35 seconds or more to craft then I use 6 tools.

Basically I have two crafting macros one that has 4 and one that has 2. When i want to use the 6 tool method i just change the toolbar number in the last line to the icon for the 2 toolmacro. Have to tweak the pauses to fit em in. When done right you fly through things.

The two tool macro is set up to call the four tool macro as it's last line.

This basically allows you to do craft grind 50% faster than with 4 tools. Big difference.

Craft Grinding camps is certainly the fastest way to go thru the camping line.. but it's a hell of a drain on resources.

JBMat is certainly entitled to his opinion on the macro thing. Myself I'm a solo hunter 95% of time. I afk'd my camps at night when i slept. I don't really see the difference between healing in a camp while i watch TV one hour at a time as opposed to do it over night while i sleep. And the group thing just doesn't fit my style of play.

I used a different macro direction than what you mentioned when camping.. I didnt worry about pauses. Simply line up all the camps in a toolbar and hit them one after the other and loop it at the end. Insert some /stand; /sit; or /forage to have movements while you are camping so game doesnt log you off.

Can hit the camps right after each other because they won't open until the other camp disbands on it's own anyway.

There are other techniques to set up a camp near a static spawn and keep uptime to it's minimum by inserting a pause of 20-25 mins or so and then having your character auto target something nearby and engage it.. which will cause your camp to disband in 2 minutes or so enabling you to create a new one. It's faster but really wasn't worth the added hassle to me. Each to their own.
