Hi all,

I see alot of people posting how to "fix" rescue". WHY? I don't even want it and I do not think it fits the ranger classs. We are not a Tank class.. I say ditch it and give us something else. Maybe uum....something uselful that would help us!

Suggestion: AE traps? Make out traps work again NPCs and in PVP? Heck I rather have an evade than a taunt! Just a quick idea/rant

I would rather see a nice Conceal command as opposed to a Rescue command that does nothing but get you killed. The emote gets you waving your arms around while you get attacked. It should just have you put your gun on the ground and then make you lay down to make snow angels

Rescue does make other people happy when the creature attacking them suddenly runs to me and squashes me into the ground...but it doesn't make me happy...

I'm not sure what the point of Rescue is...If I really want to 'rescue' someboy I'll throw and adhesive or slow down trap at the creature. There's really no need to make it come after me.

Another completely useless Ranger skill.

/rescue

It benefits me (when it works), in that I can pull the beasts that aggro my field medic.

But I agree, I don't know why its in the Ranger class, and not in some combat related class where the user could actually fight off the beasts once they begin attacking

Conceal is already in the game, all the devs gotta do is give the cert back to us and we got it, it cant be that hard

I heard the conceal's ai is messed up, maybe we were always getting it back, they just have to fix it first.

as for rescue, I see a lot of ranger/rifleman like myself but when you're using a rifle, you don't really want a monster that's chasing a brawler to chase yourself. you'll just get yourself killed in like two hits.

here's the classes that should have rescue

-any brawler

-creature handler

-SQUAD LEADER!!!!!!!!!!

If you are a brawler/ranger combo like TKA/Ranger or 2H Sword/Ranger, /rescue is just fine. However, the brawler/ranger combo isthe rarest combo to be had for the Ranger class so I would agree that /rescue belongs in a class hierarchy that can handle agro.

I'm pretty sure that the rationale behind rescue was to give rangers a "crowd control" ability. However, since we have no way of losing aggro once our teammates are "rescued," the skill is utterly useless as we all know. If we had a skill or trap that could force "peace" on a creature, then we would have something to go on. But, as it stands, rescue is about as useful as a merchant droid vendor in a sarlaac pit.

I disagree somewhat about the usefulness of Rescue. I would have liked to have the rescue ability earlier in the game when I was escorting groups of newbies and puny little artisans *grin* out into the field. I think it will be very useful on the more dangerous planets. If I have the rescue ability then some of my weaker friends can come exploring with me. True, I can't fight the creatures that come after me, but I can run like heck and lead the creatures away. This is where the Ranger burst run efficiency comes in useful. I've used wookiee roar (is it supposed to make creatures mad at me?) a few times to do the same thing rescue does, and it works pretty well. I agree that rescue doesn't give you anything xp-wise, but it seems like a fun skill in certain situations!
Example: an artisan needs to access a harvester that is surrounded by aggros. Escort her there and keep her safe!
Example: a player has died and his corpse is surrounded by aggros. Run interference while he retrieves it!

Raruk, I do have to admit that your point is interesting and I think is what the devs intended. I still think that you will need an ability to force the monster to peace. or els you will have to run 500m or something like that. Plus you can only use it every ten minutes, since burst run has a ten minute timer. this is all rant because i've never used it, so if you can elaborate more in your point maybe I can see why it will be useful.

I was in a situation last night where I wished I had rescue on a hotkey.

I saw a guy getting his butt kicked like 70 meters out, we weren't together or grouped, just passing by.

I wanted to help him but I knew if I shot I would get stuck in combat and I didn't feel like it.

Could someone explain how rescue works? And could I have used it in that situation?

What is the range? Will the creature attack me? (sounds like a dumb question but wait...)

Because I think it would be cool if the creature could be...

1. distracted by me and pulls off of it's current target.

2. Runs up to me in the same "curious" fashion that a non-aggro does when you are just passing by.

3. And is somewhat "calmed" by me and is put back into a non-aggressive state.(this would only work with originally non-aggro creatures, aggro's would simply just attack me on a rescue attempt)

Otherwise in my original example I would have "rescued" the guy and outran the creature, which I have no problem with because if I had that 70 meter head start, nothing catches me.

Rangers are renowned defenders. Rescue is defending. Thus... makes sense. You guys ever play a Ranger in any other game??? Although this rescue is lame... why would I want to help someonenamed Gubburfrom, say an Archane, get killed myself while the person I save ends up dying from another Archane, while I clone and have to recover my corpse miles away... and get no realpoints/satisfaction from it. Because I see my friend Gubbar spawn at clone center... then I get really pissed, because I died in vein.

I think the big issue here is that the very very few abilities we DO get , one is utterly wasted on Rescue . Honestly , I don't want to pull aggro offa someone else to have it put on me . Adhesive mesh or Slow traps work much much better . I have used slow bombs to save group mates several times and it works like magic . Especially at master trapper .

What a waste this skill is . It's not even remotely useful or good in any way whatsoever .
