The devs must have made a stealth fix with todays patch because all of a sudden my Flash Bomb and Sonic Pulses work like a charm now.

I was out on Yavin IV with a hunting group, I toss a flash bomb and it says "The flash bomb bursts and blinds nearby enemies!" "You gained 403 Trapping XP" And then nearby enemies all have blind!!

Then I tried sonic pulse "The sonic pulse emites an ear splitting sound and stuns nearby enemies!" "You gained 403 trapping xp" And then nearby enemies are stunned.

The rest of the time they worked nearly 100% of the time!!

I have some screenshots ill post later

Wow. Nice to hear.

For all we know, though, they fixed that a week ago, and you're just the first ranger who's bothered to throw a trap at anything since then. (Why DID you, anyway?)

A few things

I left Yavin and tried out the Ranger traps on A scavenger rat, didnt work. Tried it 4 times on Rat, didnt work.

Then I went to dantooine and it worked all the time.

Maybe they only work on high level planets?

Is it just me, or would anyone else like to see camps and traps moved to a different tab? I don't like having to wade through a list of 100 generic Items I can craft to find my traps... the only saving graces are that Camps are at the top and traps are at the bottom. It seems that everone else gets specail tabs for their items the can craft except us. I like to be crafting my traps while I jog around looking for the next baddie to see if it wants a piece of me rather than stare at the radar or the barren hillside.

After reading this post I tried mine and had success the first time with both traps. I am on Tatooine and they worked. Problem..... Tried again 4 more times later in the night and had no success. not sure what the difference was.

No...I'm on Naboo, and the Flash Bomb worked for several days for me. (Haven't tried Sonic yet.)

Ok I have a couple of questions .

What exactly do blind and stun do to a MOB . I have never seen either of them have any noticeable affect on MOBs ever . Or , what are they SUPPOSED to do , maybe that is the question .

I noticed the two bombs in question , the two ranger ones honestly don't care what the names are - worked for me on Lok about two nights ago . However , they did not work consistently AND they only worked from melee range . I avoid melee range like the plague so if they keep the range on these two traps melee than they can add them to the list of traps I don't use . Now that's a pretty long and comprehensive list and it contains every single trap except the Phenicine Whatever bomb that makes them slow .

Really hope they wake up and add some usefullness to these traps sometime this century .

Several weeks ago someone else posted that ranger traps worked. So I went out and tested them. I found that they do work...sort of.

First I never got them to work at the start of a battle. They only seemed to work after I attacked the creature.

Second they only seem to work if you are within 30m of the target. it may have just been chance but it seemed that they would worked most often when I was 20 or 10m from the target.

Third if there are other creatures in the blast radius (20-30I think) that you are currently not in combat with you then the trap won't work. Some Razorbacks were fighting a Cannibal Dewback and I throw a trap at the Dew and it didn't work. (Might work if all the creatures are fighting atleast someone in the group, have tested that)

Even after knowing about all these things the traps will some times not work. Thats why didn't post earlier I wanted to figure out those last things, but it has been harder than I thought it would be.

All test were done on Tatooine and against creatures ranging from 5 to 28 challenged rating.

Grr I don't see an edit button.

The line: (Might work if all the creatures are fighting atleast someone in the group, have tested that)

Should read: (Might work if all the creatures are fighting atleast someone in the group, haven't tested that yet)

So the moral of the story: Sometimes they work, mostly they don't
