Well not entirely....
I was thinking of instead of having new droids made for our profession, how about new Tools. I see new posts on Droid suggestions. How about giving the DE some new tools they can make. Droid for all intensive purposes are tools to make life easier, why not have them make us advance tools. I even like the idea of making customized components for back packs.
Have the DE make Back pack components, then have the tailor make new back packs that can hold a variety ofcomponents.
Some might not like this idea but to me a ranger out in the wilds of a planet in camo should not havea big shinny 3p0 droid following it arround. I see rangers as teh type who go to town to sell what they caught, pick up some weapons and tools and head out to the wild and be self sufficient out there. Not having to rely on droids.
A voice activated trap launcher in a back pack would be an intresting idea to me, so it does not effect our combat queue. Or a tool similar to the survey device that helps with harvesting, add the certification to the ranger skills.
How abouta "tricorder" for increasing area tracking.
First we do an area track, then we pull out the tricorder, set a creature we found in the area, and out pops a WP. Or make it a tool for searching for lairs, where is scans the area for a specific lair type and gives WP. This is a bit more techie that I see rangers going but it would be a nice addition.
How about a reusable camp component. When we make have it in our inventory, and every time we drop camps it is an automatic add on to the camp. Another certification for the ranger trees. Either make it give bonuses to the crafting station in the rager camps (instead of standard city quiality ones), or a music box so we can heal BF in camps, ect....
If anyone has more suggestions/comments please add them.

I like your ideas, but I want MORE DROIDS! Anything to make things more STAR-WARSy!
Maybe we can get a 'droid cloaking device' to give our shiny droids some camo

Perhaps an olive drab / khaki droid with a potted plant on top, so that it 'blends' with the scenery?

I just need to get the plant to stop falling off - already got the colour scheme on my R3!

I like my droids. Droids are part of the star wars universe. Moisture farmers use them. Big crimelord slugs use them. Bounty hunters use them. I use them. They're an everyday part of life, like blasters or shoes. Why shouldn't a ranger use a droid?

I dont think there anything 'wrong' with droids, but I do see the point that they arent to 'wilderness-y'... I mean, come one... R2-D2 sticks out like a sore thumb on Degoba, but fits right into the space ship interiors all throughout the movies. C3P0 is too damn shiny... Droids are very star wars-ish, yes, but they just arent practical for the wilderness (most types anyway). Some droid alternatives would be nice, in my opinion

Ok was their a droid that in the movies or books or such looked more like the wilderness? Would a roger-roger thats black or green fit more?

A droid is a tool. Aragorn-style (i.e., more wildernessy)rangers use a knife to skin their kills; I can use a droid. Aragorn-style rangers probably use a bow to hunt; many of you use the high tech energy cannon known as the T-21. We're star wars rangers, damn it!
Also, droids make pleasant whirring and beeping sounds.

No.. a laser knife is a tool, a hammer is a tool, but a droid is more of a companion.. a pet with aspecifiedfunction, but a companion that has no real place in the wild. Most of them don't fly, almost all are very very slow, in contrast to the wayfarer rangers. Some rely on tinsy winsy little wheels to propel them acrossconcrete surfaces, and the droids without wheels but humanoid legs have few joints and pathetic mobility.
Droids do NOT fit in, less they want to supply us with those geonosiandroidekas.
I can agree that on a ranch or some other stationary position droids might have a place repairing gizmos and whatchamacallits, but with a ranger on the more or less constant run, they are in a straight collisioncourse with the star wars experience.
And for the roleplaying point of view:
A: Aight, we gotta be real quiet now folks, this here croc is a formidable enemy and a bloodthirsty killer. Now, you kids at home don't trythis. I'mlegendary hunter Roger Wilcoand I know what I'm doing, I'll just call my r2 unit, because it *add random benefit here*.
*calls* *droid crashes down from the sky, and struggles out of its crater, unblemished from the fall naturally*
B: BLLLRPPT BEEP BEEP BLOIPPP vrrrrrrrrrrrr BLEEEPWOPEEEEP vrrrrrrrrrr BLEEEP. BOP?
A creature has detected you, despite your attempts of camouflage
A: Oh blimey, looks like that mysterious camobug again. It MUST be a kreetle. Guess we'll see what this here droid can do then. "A"
*r2-unit, begins to roll against its intended victim down the hill*
B: vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
A: "A" "A" "A" "A"!!!!
B: Vrrrrrrrrr.. Bleepblopblopblop.
A: *fires 5 rounds oflaser rifle deathpromptly into the crocs head, which topples over dead* Ok, she's down, now to reapply camo, and proceed with the harvest.
*moves within range of the corpse so our heroic r2 can roll in to do what the ranger desperately need of it*
A: "HHIDE"
B: VRRRR.. *oh no, a slight elevation!!!* VrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrBLEEPWOOPDEBOOPBOP
A creature has detected you, despite your attempts of camouflage
A: What the..
*transmission interrupted*
Droids do N-O-T fit into the picture. We are rangers, not droidhandlers!

Good ideas, except for the wp's. Please, please, please - no wp's.

Maybe we need a new style of droid that is stealthy. It would be cool to have a newdroid type, even though it would be hard to design and implement along with everything else. Would still be cool though.

First off: access to droidekas would be incredibly cool. Second, I guess it all comes down to play style. If you're a rifleman, firing your energy cannons from 64 meters away and dropping your prey before it ever becomes aware of your presence, then yeah, I guess it would take a droid a long time to cover that distance. I beat my prey to death with my fists and feet, and corpses pile up around me, often while new hostiles appear. I can't harvest while in combat, so it's very handy to have a droid circling around me and harvesting critters as they drop. Otherwise, the corpses disappear if hostiles keep spawning (and I can't get out of combat), or they stack up and are hard to target once the fight is over. I can yell out my harvest command while the newly-dead beatie is still my target, then start beating on the next one. It's convenient.
As for the speed factor, I've had my droid out on many a long hunt and he never had trouble keeping up. I was on foot, naturally. I'll bet my harvesting droid has explored more of Lok, Tatooine, Yavin, and Dathomirthan most players have.
You don't like droids, hey, that's cool. But don't get all purist on those of us that do. We're here, we're gear, get used to it.
