Don't tell me...valcyn is a PvP server...?

If so, I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping for more of a roleplaying aspect, and less people out for my blood. I hope it's not too heavily focussed on PvP that I can't get much of anything else done.

I've seen countless posts from other servers, but I seem to be the only one from Valcyn. Please tell me I'm wrong, please say there's someone else out there I can contact.

There is PVP on every server, i don't know if you noticed or not but this game is about a war and if you have rebel or imperial faction sooner or later you'll be fighting a player either by choice or not by choice ala TEFs(temporary enemy flags).

There are roleplayers here as well, being a pvp'r doesn't mean you don't roleplay in fact it offer many more opportunities to do so. I am a roleplayer. I'm even married in game. I have a Large house on a hill all by itself i share with my wife on naboo. I have a winter home on tatooine and a hunting lodge on corellia. I play my character as an antarian ranger on the run from the empire's jedi purge in which antarian rangers were included.

You will find we are the only profession whose skills are 100% pve and cannot use them to effect pvp at all. Traps cannot be used by anybody but us, can't sell em, can't use em in pvp. The list goes on for every skill tree we have. The ONLY tree we have that people keep is tracking and mostly BHs take that, it's mainly known to players as a BH skill and i am often accused of being a BH when i wear the Hunt Master title.

So there aren't many of us, there isn't much of a PVE game here in this game, i'm sorry if that disappoints you but even artisans can affect the GCW, their goods and services aren't restricted to only be usable or able to affect pve as we are. Rangers are half as developed in this regard to other professions, while much of what we have does work, it isn't as useful as what other professions have.

So in a nutshell there are not alot of us. Often i am the ONLY ranger online on my server. There are less than 12 rangers on Valcyn and less than 6 who are masters. Maybe 6 working their way to master.The rest are dabblers in the Tracking tree.

You will find the most popular professions are not ranger, we aren't even in the top 10. Most players play CHs, Commandos, BHs, Medical Professions or some mixx of all of those thrown in with a little elite profession mods from those respective trees. Get used to being lonely.

I'm a Ranger on Valcyn and I refuse to do PvP. PvP is for combat classes. As rangers, we are not a combat class. We're a support class. The only combat I can see us doing is sabatoge, recon, and personel termination. A first strike class to cause confusion while everyone else comes in and cleans up. Ideal scenaro I seeis 2-3 rangers arrive ahead of a main force consisting of commandos, carbiners, and pistolers and such and provide intel on the target, take out a few officers, lay traps in the area to prevent chases, and disappear as the main force shows up. Combineranger with rifleman and you got one deadly sniper for field units. Lets be smart and do what were good at.

Ranger 4/2/4/4-- I have enough camping skills to add to go to 3, but am using them for other things right now. Adding more so the 4 grind isn't so bad because there is very little benefits at 3.

And what I meant by PVP server is this: When I first started, there was all this commotion about certain servers gathering the most of either PVPers or RPers. I believe Corbantis was one of the RP servers, to name an example.

I can, and will, make the most of whichever server, profession, and race I chose at creation. My Wookiee on Chilastra had planned droid engineer from the beginning. That was put on hold, but it's coming along once again. I was also planning to stay neutral, but went rebel for a time, and now I'm trying to go Imperial. I will deal with the setbacks of being a Wookiee in the Imperial army if I have to, I will not give up no matter what challenges are put in front of me...like not being able to make a droid for 3 days until they fixed it.

Well i've been one of the long time rangers on this server and i'm about to surrender the skills. None present any real advantage to me that better weapon or medical skills wouldn't make me better able to handle than my ranger skills do.

Support class? Support what? Support artisans who want to craft on hiking trips? I feel like i hsould be trying to stop yogi from stealing picinic backets. Come on boo boo!

Combat medic is a support profession too, guess what their abilities aren't limited to pve. No profession is like we are. MY trap better **edit** well work in pvp but they don't and prolly never will.

I've waited 4 months, that's long enough.

If the next patch doesn't change some of this i'm quitting the profession and that's the bottom line. You will too, and if you are a rebel or an imperial and are covert and think you never will be attacked by another player you ahve another thing coming. When you do faction missions you will gain a TEF and sooner or later someone will come along and shoot at you. WOuld sure be nice having less combat skills to be able to throw a trap and have a chance at escape.

I am a newish Ranger on Valcyn. I have to go to the ranger trainer outside of coronet sometimes. thats also where you might find other player rangers.

I was the first Master Ranger on Valcyn and havent looked back yet. For a time i lost hope and thought man i'm about useless, sure i'm not the powerhouse a Master CH or flamethower weilding commando is. But when working on intellect,altruism or holocron hunting for guild i find my worth. Areatrack isnt the best skill in the game but it does help somewhat, i wont sell off master ranger just cause i know one day the devs will get around to adding some stuff for us and we will become usefull for more things.
