Everytime i log on, I do a /who imperial. I noticed an imp in Moenia so I decided to go after him. Did a track and found him near the shuttle port. He started running and I followed. He changed directions a couple times but nobody disappears from a master ranger. =) Finally, 2000m's out, I caught up with him and killed him pretty quickly saying "stay out of moenia" before the DB.

I love tracking.

hey man i've been debating about getting the tracking tree. at least to box 3. i figure it'll be wasier to hunt things like force NPC's. what exactly does it do? like put a little window on your screen? i mean how do you see where the thigns far away are? does it make the map bigger? thanks.

It just gives you a list with details of what direction and distance.

I used it to great effect last night hunting krayts.

Does the higher tracking allow you to track while running? I found that annoying that I had to stop for several seconds before I could track again.

No, you can never track while running. Higher levels of tracking just add new things to track and distance/direction to targets.

whats the max distance you can search for an NPC?

It works great in areas with folk running around but obviously its short coming is in areas where mobs dont spawn until you get within 50m of them, including some quest mobs. The spawn system needs some work.

tracking IV is great in pvp. i dont much care for it in pve, only things i would track is something rare which is usually less traveled and hasnt spawned yet. so kinda pointless there.

There are days when /areascan works great, and other days when it really seems to miss everything unless you have already passed it. I have Tracking IV and have been called on by players to help them track down an NPC which I have done fairly successfully. I also get a lot of request to help a hunting party track down specific creatures. It has really helped me also in my CH profession because I can find, track and then tame and train a lot more babies then I used to from just happening to come on them.

I really hope they make tracking like EQ.

It pops open a window, and you can choose your victum. You can even sort them by level, and distance. When you click on them, it spams your chat window with their location. When you find them, you simply shut it off.

That's tracking.

Does tracking work with quests like mark of intellect, altruism to search for the npcs?
