I was wondering why ranger was not given any decent defense bonuses (she only gets a +10 range/melee at master and that's it) considering she deals with dangerous animals and vicious creatures all the time.
As you have to be master scout and it doesn't grant any defensive bonuses neither its pretty thin.
If you add bio-engineer (being ranger helps to sample DNA) that leaves you to a combat dummy state in the wilderness.
Joane (Master scout/ranger/bio-engineer)

WE are pushing for the devs to grant Rangers various defensive mods, including, but not limited to disease resistance, poison resistance, melee and ranged defense, etc.
As for why we don't have them already...no one knows.

Beats me. You'd think after spending all that time alone in the wilderness, killing countless critters, we'd learn how to defend ourselves quite well....

Be fair, guys: a ranger name of Joane should have been a clue as to the gender-specific pronouns....!

Great points:
We have, for a long time asked for defensive mods. Because Ranger is seen primarily as a support and enhancing profession as opposed to a combat profession, defenses seem to be a reasonable thing to ask for.
like calc said, poison/ disease/ melee/ ranged defenses/ creature toughness/ things like that would actually go a long way in allowing us to be better hunters.
as for why we havent gotten them yet? well, we havent had much added to our profession, but we have lost a few good ranger potential skills to both Jedi and Rifles.
oh well.
keep the ideas coming... eventually we will get love and we shoudl all chime in to what we want.

True, but the post was using laungue that refered to a group, then switched to describing an individual. No one is saying that Rangers can't be girls (when are more girls a bad thing?

Acutally, I thought she thought Rangers were wussie chicken babies.

As well as knowing how to defend ourselves from creatures. Rangers should also know how to attack said creature. We know the "soft spots" each of them has..or should. Where to shoot to hit the heart for example.
I find it hard to believe that any other profession can outshoot us on a creature, we've only skinned and deboneda few thousand of said beast and now have a good idea where the internal organs are located for an easy kill.
"shrug" I hope one day we can all meet on these forums and say..finally "great job on rangers devs" and mean it.
