Thread: new to ranger

Well, I'm not really new to the ranger profession - have been novice ranger for quite some time. But I'm new to the Ranger chat board. I've focused my efforts on being MCH and honestly only thought of my Ranger skills as they related to how they supported CH. Finally decided I might as well see what's happening on the Ranger chat board. Woohoo!

I only wish I had come here much earlier. Nraas, you rock. You have given me new hope for the Ranger profession. That thread on resource harvesting by VolstedGridban - utterly amazing. Volsted, you're my new hero (John Wayne has been dead a long time anyway). In general, I've gotten several new ideas from this chatboard.

When I first got the game (about 3 weeks after it first came out) I couldn't decide between CH and Ranger. In fact, I couldn't make up my mind until I was most of the way to becoming Master Scout - and having to make all those stupid tents for survival xp almost made me switch over to novice dancer It took me a very long time to get to Master Scout, mostly because I was just having fun playing the game, exploring, etc. Rather seemed to me that if you had to "grind" out a profession, then you really missed the point of having fun.

Anyway, I decided to go with CH, but still wanted to go as high in Ranger as I could. Of course, 1 week after making MCH (took very long time getting there too), they nerf the bejeesus out of it The patch didn't do a whole lot for Rangers either. While the Ranger skills really helped me as CH, I was a bit disappointed that the Ranger profession wasn't really what I thought it would be and afterlast patch and seeing proposed upcoming changes, Ibecame even more disillusioned.Iwas thinking about dropping most of my Ranger skills except for tracking.

But glad I came here. Good things could be on the horizon. So I won't be getting rid of my Ranger skills just yet. Besides, if I did I'd get a holocron telling me to become a master ranger.

I am a new fulltime Ranger.I have dabbled with it on another server to go with my bh toon. But
since starting another toon on wanderhome and making Ranger one of my profs i am enjoying the profession so far and getting back into fun aspects of the game.I am 4-1-4-4 so I am not a master yet.But like i said,I am enjoying doing it and making money off meat sales.

I am working on the camping stuff now so your all welcome at my fire anytime,if your on wanderhome.
I will have like 18 skill points left,is it worth putting them into CH?Any advice is appreciated

I think about half of the Master Ranger with Master Combat Profession people like to put their 18 points into CH. The other half like Medic 1-0-0-0.

Medic for me, though at one point I was a Ranger/Rifleman/CH.

I do enjoy the current template, but I miss all my pets that I still have stored on my dpad (for when I go back to CH).

Welcome to Wanderhome, fellow Ranger.

Well, I am a MCH and just recently made MR. The pets definitely helped me move up the Frontiering tree as they count as visitors and as MCH I was able to pull 3 pets out. I shall remain Master in both as they are fun professions to play. People are still awed by the High Tech Field Base. lol. I gave up MRM for the Ranger profession and now I am using my leftover skpts to take up Power Techniques in TK. I'm not sure how effective this will be but I'd thought I'd try it out.

This doesn't leave much room for defenses but with pets, they'll act as my tanks so I shouldn't need them. It's power that I need. Great thing about melee is you don't have far to go to harvest.

Perhaps this is not the best template for PvP. Actually, that's an understatement but I've always considered myself a support kind of player, anyway with pets providing a bit of distraction and Tracking to keep an eye on all these Jedi running about, we're not completely useless in PvP.

really depends on the server.

high quality resources on my server bring in 25-50 cpu

normal stuff/grinding resources get about 5 cpu

My alt on bria is NOT a ranger. For such a large server, the prices for everything are astronomically high...except resources. Stuff that i get for 30cpu on Kettemoor, i see going for 10cpu.

use your best judgement, do a search on your bazaar for creature resources and look at the going rates. youll get the hang of it soon enough

and welcome

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.
