Well, i am a master ranger/ master rifleman. I like this, but i think i drop it. Why? Well after the CU i dont think it's so good anymore. First of all is Ranger is not a combat class so no maxed ham bars. But also the armor is battle armor while rifleman is reconnaissance. shouldt a scout/ranger have reconnaissance? Isnt that what a ranger is for, to scout the area aka reconnaissance?. I dont want to have battlearmor skills for ranger and reconnaissance for rifle. It just doesnt feel right. I had fun with ranger, im going to be a deep space miner after the cu. No more hunting on planets. Im just going to sit in my freighter and mine. I think i go pistoleer/smuggler/merchant 0-0-4-0 so i can slice and spice and put a vendor somewhere so i can sell drugs to any lone ranger who stops by my illegal casino. Although i am an imperial colonel and should stop smugglers from .. erm smuggling. Im becoming myself one. And pistoleer/smuggler both have reconnaissance armor. So then i wear scout armor while i am not even a scout. Why are these guys called scouttroopers then.Furthermore i want to say that i had second thoughts about the CU and the EQ2 style. But the CU looks great and i think i can get used to the EQ2 controls. But i must say that i do miss my ALT key. But after a while of playing i probably dont know any better. But i did switch back to SWG from EQ2 because i didnt like EQ2. The new effects are great in the CU. Oh well, time to think this over. It is gonna be hard dropping ranger. I mean, it's not a profession, its a lifestyle.

This is going to be changed if it hasn't been already.

Master Ranger with no other skills gives you a CL of 60

Master Carbineer with no ther skills gives you CL 54

So in terms of SP investment vs Cl, we are on track.

As a Master Ranger|Master Rifleman you have a CL of 80, and I as a Rodian I had 29xx health. Again on track.

Since PvE in the new system is more or less 100% dependant on your CL vs the MOB you're fighting, Rangers are in good shape, as long as you pick up an Elite Combat Profession on the side.

Now this leaves us with 4 SP left. Only way to spend them is in the FS branches. Because of that, I think we should work on getting some Master Ranger certifications, much like Squad Leader and Combat Medic and increased Melee and Ranged defenses.

Ideally I'd like to see one ranged and one melee weapon certification as Master Ranger.

It should have general ranged speed, and accuracy mods assuring that any Master Ranger can use it wihout "penalty". Having a rifle would cause carbineers and pistoleers "miss out" because they don't have rifle speed and accuracy mods.

With general ranged speed, and accuracy mods on the Ranger weapons we make up for mods in the elite combat profession that can't be applied.

Maybe in the revamp we can get a set of master ranger armor and at least one melee and one ranged Master Ranger weapon

( and of course a hat, with frickin' laser beams attached to it, of course it should require a bio-link and be a Ranger quest item granted after killing one million kreetles in pursuit of the one million scout XP required for Master Ranger ).

We need those general speed mods bad, and I mean bad.

Our armor is on point though, I'm getting hit with a kinds of ranged attacks. All criter ranged attacks are enery btw.

This was a heated topic a couple of weeks ago.. (I probably shouldn't kick it up again)

Just curious, but why recon armor? Because of the name? Recon armor has higher protection against energy, and I think more vulnerable to kinetic (creature damage). Battle armor has equal resistances, which would seem to be the best all around choice for ranger.

Incidentally, battle armor includes RIS and padded armor, and as far as looks go, they're pretty "rangery".

You can still be certed for recon armor by mastering pistols, rifles, swords and some other combat professions. That way, you have two choices. (less professions have battle armor, and fewer have assault).

I think overall, battle armor was a good choice.

Ya I played with the recon, truth be told Level owns all in PvE. I think the armor will mostly have a place in PvP.

Oh ya and armor wan't working when I hopped on today. It was showing what it would take off the damage and not taking it off.

Yeah... ideally I'd like to see the Devs copy the melee and ranged defenses over from SL and then give us weapons with general speed and general accuracy skill mods equal to what a Master Squad Leader is given.

If you use the froggies to get Master Ranger / some combat ....make sure you load up with stim D's that are 1200 heal rated and only require CL 40.

I tried missions on level 68 critters with a level of 70 for myself and got obliterated when I tried to heal via bacta -- forgetting I lost it when I surrendered novice medic to master Ranger. ( DUH ?? )

This makes it very hard for me to make a choice. I really do love rangering and i was just on TC-ep3 witrh my master ranger/master rifleman. The last 4 skill points i could put in FS but i havent done it yet. I need to think it over so i dont make a mistake by dropping it.

If you master Rifleman and Ranger you come out at the top CL of 80 which is where everyone else is if they are say master Pistoleer and TKM. So you don't lose a thing. I have been on CU and yes originally it wasn't that way, but it is now.

Second if you want to use Recon Armor you can so long as you are certified for it. So in the Rifleman/Ranger case you are rewarded with both certifications and it doesn't hurt any thing with Rifle weapons if you are using Battle Armor.

Nothing wrong with being a deep space miner if that is what you want to be, but you can be that and be a Master Ranger/Master Rifleman at the same time.

It sounds like to me you are trying to find an excuse for not being a Rifleman/Ranger. We respect your decision if that is what you want to do. But the reasons you are giving for doing it are very flawed. Play the game the way you want to, but the reasons you give are not a problem unless you want to make them a problem. Personal taste is very different between all people and if the new CUs approach so far to Ranger and Rifleman doesn't fit your taste get in there and test it and give your input, or if really don't like the armor sets visually and this bothers you that much then by all means go in the direction you are talking about. We are sorry you want to leave.

I agree we should get possible weapon certs and definitely mods for it, however Im more inclined to say that ranger belongs more towards the crowd control definition by using current and future traps.
