Thread: Idea: A city devoted entirely to making a Person/Guild money.
I know I won't be paying 2-3k for a shuttle ticket. Especially if I've already invested that much to get to Planet X for Wonder-POI.
If everyone's a fool, sure, you'll make money hand-over-fist. But I think that could be counterproductive.
Why not set up "out of eye-shot" of the POI, then bank on the overflow? The people will need your cloner, anyway...
If your shuttle fees are that extreme would deter its use from a nearby city.
The trick to prosperity is a fine balance of acceptable fees and tax rates to attract players to live in your city, as well as passers by using your facilities.
Just my input,

In other words, you're not on top of the POI.. and you're the closest clone center, so you'd get the tourist trade. Believe me, I'm painfully aware that the Cloner brings NO money to the city.. but scaring them away from your shuttle with outrageous fees won't bring them in either. If I have a choice between take the car, or pay outlandish fees... guess which one wins?
The whole point of tourism is to bring customers to your vendors. By providing needed services, you overflow to your merchants, malls, hospital, and cantina. By making shuttle costs prohibitive, you cut your own throat, since you'd lose the cash cow from the shuttleport.. and they're not exactly cheap to maintain.
There is no easy way to cash via a city. It's the "white elephant" of the game.

The max city tax on shuttles is 500cr
I created the city of Mos Elsewhere on Bria, Tatooine near the krayt dragon graveyard we charged 200 creds shuttle tax and 1% sales tax by the time i left we had over 100 citizens the outgoings were over 600k per week and it was (with halfwayfar) the first metropolis on the planet.
most of the cash came from shuttle tax, the point is if you have a city near something thats popular then you dont need 2-3k fees just having a huge volume of foot traffic at a lower tax will make all the difference.
something england learned from america was the "pile it high, sell it cheap" philosophy, most of our shops would charge lots of money for products based on the logic "we may not sell much but what we do sell will make tons of money" time and again it has been proven that puling it high and selling it cheap makes far more cash.
