Thread: About that necro'ed sales tax thread...

I think the person who raised that thread back up was right and makes a very valid point.

Making a new post to cover the same thing is a waste of time and bandwith when there already is a post on the topic buried down in the archives (and to what end? to have the new posts become the necro posts of the future?) One topic, one post, is that not good forum behavior?

and it simply shows that Politicians havent forgotten about the issue and the point being made is that weve been waiting a long time for this to be fixed. Not asking for something new, just asking for something that used to work, to work again.

It's been on our Top Issues list since the bug popped up. It's listed everytime we're asked what the major bugs and issues with our profession is. It's been /bug reported many, many times.

I don't have a problem with keeping issues in one thread. In fact, I appreciate it. But bumping a thread from a year ago when there are plenty of appropriate *current* threads (like our top issues thread or the round-table discussion regarding taxes and income) is not necessary for this to happen.

for once, I wasn't responsible for a thread being locked

the problem with the sales tax bug is that they messed with code related to the "commodities market" (vendors and the bazaa), and it broke sales tax. I tried to raise awareness of the issue while they change other things about the bazaar ("hey, can you guys take a look at sales tax while you're looking thru the code anyway?"), but I hadn't received any response about it since GM actually tried to investigate last year (he was probably pulled back to do something else )

I think Runesaber was the one that did the changes, but I'm not even sure if he's around any more... and GM definitely isn't. it might be pessimism on my part, but unless we get a major bug fix publish or if there are some major changes to the commodities market again I doubt it'll be fixed soon

I know, and that is extremely frustrating for us all.

Just as an FYI, I submitted this again just this morning on a critical issues thread for the various professions.

Thank you Khristen. I know you, and Pappi before you have been pressing this issue as far as you can. I didnt mean any disrespect to the thankless task either of you do.
It's just so dang frustrating to have a good deal of publishes go in, gobs of eye-candy added, and we still cant get the tools to run an efficient city fixed
