Thread: Unwanted Citizens...?

Just out of curiosity, is there any current or planned method in removing unwanted but still active characters that have houses in a player city? I can't speak for the Devs but I would consider this to be a mild form of griefing...

No, although some of us would like this ability.

actually, the devs have expressed the opposite. technically the player city is not owned by the mayor, and once you let a citizen in they have every right to stay in that place (unless they exploited to gain zoning rights, and even then some CSRs won't help.)

if mayors can evict citizens, then they can mess up an election by kicking out anyone who's voting for the opponent, or mess with their houses just because the mayor doesn't like them. some mayors have abused /citywarn, and they're not willing to give us powers that are stronger than that now.

Ok, I'm fine with that, but the situation I'm talking about is a little different.

My guild just broke up, and the majority of the people that left the guild are starting up a new city on Naboo. People are enjoying placing houses outside of our city limits, just so that they will be able to be a part of the city once the city limits expand. Zoning rights were never granted, and the people who are doing this are not intended to be citizens by any of the "actual" citizens of the city. Is there no voting process planned by which we could have someone removed, or a similar process?

Would a CSR be able to help in this issue?

Most likely no. Unless they have rude sign names on their houses or something, that are not technically doing anything wrong.

I don't see how they are not "technically" doing something wrong. They are purposely placing a houseoutside of another city's limits, in order to be able to grief them through the use of that house in the future.

Well, from another persepective, they are placing their houses where they like. There is no rule in the game that says you can't place your houses in a random spot outside of a player city. Just because the houses are near a city does not make itgriefing.

Note that I don't think that what they are doing is fair, just that I don't think they are breaking any rules, and therefore CSRs will do nothing.

What makes you certain that they are going to grief you? I think now is the time for 'politics' - they are only a threat to you if they are dissatisfied with your leadership and seek to replace you with someone else. That being the case, you will need to call upon all of your political skills to undermine your opponents and protect your powerbase.

This is not a CSR issue - it is in fact part of what being a politician is all about.

On a logistical point though, for these people to have any impact on their city, they would have to leave their city and declare citizenship in yours which would massively damage their existing city if they do this en masse - you cannot be a citizen in two cities. You might want to point this out to them

Good luck!

Since when cant you be a citizen in two cities??? Hate to say it but the citizenship bugs are still in affect, I have 2 toons that are currently residents in two cities. I even submitted a ticket and was told to submit a /bug ticket and forget it( 3 months ago). I have several friends that are also dual-citizens as well.

The dual-citizenship bug is just that....a bug. Taking advantage of it is technically an exploit, and I really don't suggest going down that road.

They know about it, but haven't fixed it. But they did put in the Revoke Citizenship option so that players could take it upon themselves to *not* exploit the system.

If I understand the situation correctly another situation would be to revoke all militia so that the mayor has complete control of zoning rights... and don't expand. Those houses will not become part of the city and if they =are= there just for griefing they will not become citizens.

When they leave, return to city expansion.
