I want to inquire about something. I am trying to find out, if after starting my city, I can bring a current master politician to be mayor for a week and establish the city specialization as something a novice couldn't have such as research center. And after the week, when i take over, will the spec still be there, or will it be gone?
So to recap, if a mayor establishes a city specialization, and another mayor takes over that does have the skill required to establish this specialization, will the city keep it, or will the spec be gone?
Thanks

Anything that is establish stays until...
1. city reduce in size which cause the perks to disappear
2. city goes poof
3. remove the item and cannot replace until skills are learn
so yes.. you get to keep your specialization if the mayor leaves and a novice takes over... the only thing is that you cannot move or change anything until you get the skill

Hmmm...I'd always assumed that it was tied in with the Mayors skill level, and that if at the time of update, if the mayor didnt have that skill the city specialisation went "poof".

Nope its a permanent change, just like placing buildings, once in, its in.
I was a master politician and had the research center specialization on my old city. The new mayor that replaced me was just a novice politician. The specialization remained in effect.
She couldn't change the specialization to anythingshe didn't have (by skill), but the old one wasn't removed either.

I've been reading through a lot of posts and the stickies but i haven't seen a clear answer to this except on the Adv Player Guide which oddly still shows /citywarn. (Thinking it might be a little outdated, lol) Is it possibly for a city to be both an Improved Job Market and a Research Center? I believe i recall seeing these doubles sometime ago, but none in recent memory. Any help that can be provided would be appreciated.

yes, in theory, you can.. but yer not setting TWO specializations. i cant' remember the exact lingo for it, but yer basically setting up a 'community' and they are determined already.
they had like.. medical center andresearch facility = scientific community or some crap like that
master poli could set theze, except they never worked right so the dev's just took em out, making master poli a waste of skills and points
