Well, last night, myself and a guildie finally decided to go check out some of the player event perks.
Our Shopping list:
Crashed X-Wing x 2
Imperial Pavilion
TIE Bomber x 2
Imperial Banner x 2
Lamda Shuttle
Jukebox
We then proceeded to place these items around town, and invite all the citizens to come check them out. Many of them had never heard of these player event perks before, so they were greatly surprised when they saw a Lamda Shuttle parked right in front of our Guild Hall. They thought that maybe Vader had made an appearance or something.
We then headed into our town's shopping mall, and checked out all 30 songs on the Jukebox, then left the Jukebox on "Satsifaction 2" for our customers' enjoyment.

The player event perks look GREAT. I look forward to trying out the games like the race droid and capture the flag. I also look forward to seeing more and more things like this added to the game.

they are all very neat - but 8 hrs lifespan is not worth it.
they must increase them a little bit -- and improve the placing ability of the larger items.

I think the life span if it started ticking off when placed rather then when bought would be ok. The lottery driod can last a week tho which is nice.

the jukeboxes are nice, but there are concerns amoung the musicians as to the availability of these items since 25k (even for 8 hrs) is a lot less expensive than hiring a musician. I've seen them and they're cool, but don't forget to occasionally hire your local entertainers

personally, i'd rather see Jukeboxes go the way of Building Signs and Vendors, where they are a Merchant item, that a merchant acquires from the structure management terminal, and then places in the building he/she is admin of. have it use up one of the merchant's available Vendor slots, and have it require maintenance. allow players to put credits into it to select a different song, and that money could help offset the cost of maintenance. then allow the merchant to do this in any building he is admin of, just like they can with signs and vendors.
then keep the temporary jukeboxes for player events, so that a mayor could place one in city hall, or other non-merchants can place one in buildings.

but that doesn't help musicians

if it helps, i'd rather have live entertainment than a box sitting in the corner. i'd just like to have a jukebox that would sit in our city's mall, that is able to play non-stop music for more than 8 hours. i wouldn't want to replace musicians in the cantina, or anything else, it's just that i don't think many musicians would go for playing in our mall for 24/7 when we aren't a very busy city.

personally, I think the idea is fine *if* musicians are involved in the process of the "more permanent" jukeboxes, such as tape refills or such. right now these jukeboxes *can* be placed in cantinas, and not every event coordinator would prefer a live band (due to cost, amount of work, etc.) as is though, I doubt they'll consider extending the timeframe on these jukeboxes.

Regarding "permanent" jukeboxes and musicians...
Make the schematic attainable through an entertainer quest. Allow it to be crafted by musicians and only allow it to be placed by merchants reaching a set requisite (Master... Advert IV... Hiring IV?) in buildings they have admin rights.
Have the jukebox use "stored music media", which is again crafted by musicians. One block of smm would give you x amount of playtime. Down the road new songs could be introduced that are obtainable by musicians.
The down side of this idea is that it turns musicians into more of a crafter profession.
But to properly serve musicians, they are going to need some Dev love and get music folks will want to listen to.

Something needs to be done about the placement restrictions... I had a heck of a time trying to find a spot in my city to place a banner and ended up not being able to place it in the middle.
And whoever suggested that the 8 hour timer starts at placement was right. It would make planning easier.

I'd love to see some sort of Recording Studio type building in NPC cities where musicians could go to record music. then they could get a data-disc of their music. then they would take the data-disc to either a merchant to put in a jukebox, or take it to some crafter that would use the datadisc as a one time use schematic that could be used to mass produce the data disc for use in jukeboxes, or possibly even portable music devices to listen to while out travelling across the Yavin landscape.
