Hello everyone, I am currently the new mayor of an old old city on the shadowfire server. It has been in the works for some time now for me to take voer position as mayor of this city, but this morning an unusual twist happened, the current mayor at the time pulled everything from the city, including the cityhall (which held well over 5 million in credits) and left my city to the dogs basically.
Now aside from that fact, the entire city banned together to try to fix the problems, we've already gotten the city hall back to a little over in 2 million credits (quite a site to see, and almost a tear jerker to see so many people at times you never knew we online ban together tosave the city and guild they love so much).
Then once again, another problem peered its ugly head, we had residents (that we knew had quit the game) whos houses were still there, the mayor had admin on each of these houses (well over 20 of them, from over a year ago some of them were) and to further greif my city put large large sums of money (I'm betting probably 200k of more) in each of these houses to ensure that my city cannot get to or past rank 1 ever again. Because of the fact that our cityhall is more of a shoreline type city (I'm a sucker for watery sunsets) I can out have structures placed outside from the water, so as you can understand its quite a pain to try to get more of a half box shaped bondary when you have houses of people who do not play, or will not be playing the game ever again, and you cannot get rid of them because you're being greifed by a former mayor who failed their job.
Now I ask, has anyone else endured this sort of situation, and if so, did any of the CSRs do anything to help you rid yourself of these "ghost" houses that are keeping your city from flourishing?

CS should likely manually crank your town up because the mayor removed the city hall. Whenever there have been scorched earth policies like you had happen to you customer service was very sympathetic to your side and most of the time temp banned the mayor or at least gave him a warning.

I really hope they do something, there was 110 people declared in the city this morning when it happened, now I'm lucky to have the 13 that I do have, and the rest of the guild who wasn't on at the time are waiting on the side for those ghost houses to be gone so they can help get the city back together.

I hate to say this, but the CSRs probably can't do much - the other Mayor was wrong, but within his rights to do what he did, and this is the case of city that was run by someone who was not cut out to be a mayor.
If the CSRs do get involved, that will help you a lot.
If not, you may actually have to start your city again - this is one of the problems with politics - some politicians use sneak tactics to get their way!

You sure the old Mayor pulled up the City Hall and houses in a deliberate attempt to grief you?
Or maybe he just deleted his character before cancelling his account, and all the structures he owned vanished?
I'd say the CSRs will probably be sympathetic, but it would help your case a ton if you could somehow prove that the Mayor did that to the town on purpose with malicious intent.

that's nasty.. no the CSR probably won't do anything, but... There is a character wipe in the works to purge 3 month and older accounts that will cleanse the cities in more ways than one. in both population and structures

Actually that is incorrect. True the ability to destroy city hall is that of a mayors, however to do so maliciously is not only griefing but griefing of the highest caliber due to the number of people affected. CS has stepped in to aid citizens from a mayor with scorched earth policies in regards to city hall. You can call it what you will but a mayor does not have the right to abuse his destructive powers in regards to city hall. Him picking up shuttleport, cloner, banks etc. are within his right but he is not able to destroy city hall in order to grief others.
