A couplemonths or so ago i created a little place on Dantooine called Vo Wacune. At the first moment the city hall was placed i started wondering if i had made a mistake. When i saw that i had to have 10 people within the first 24 hours the rush was on. I went everywhere ... sent emails and tells to all of my friend, dideverything i could possibly do to get the people. I couldnt find enough. With 10 hours remaining i walked into the cantina at the mining outpost on dant and found an individual with no guild tag. With a burst of either inspiration or desperation (i still havent figured out which one) i asked him if he was looking for a guild. He replied that he had friends waiting on him to make one. I let him know that i had just made a city without and it did not have a guild attached to it, he was more then welcome to create his own. And so was formed a partnership that has worked well.Well..... with a few complications.

At this moment i am under huge amounts of stress .... from personal to ig to work related .... and to top it all off ... i get the feelings that he beleives it is his city. That by being the guild leader he has final say so over how i run Vo. That for every decision i make i must consult him first, He has been a tremendus help to me in keeping our little city going. Without his help our city never would have made it. But i dont think i can handle feeling like a pawn for him anymore.

Has everyone felt this slump ..... have you reached a point where you dont think you can handle all of these pressures to get things done and still be around to help new citizens or place trainers or go out and recruit or make the money you need to keep the buildings healthy? Any ideas would be a great help. I have told him that i am stepping down but he has asked me not to. I really dont want to give up my little creation.

I am confused. You do or do not want to resign? Whichever, you absolutely must not let someone dictate what you want to do. First and foremost, remember you are only playing a game. If the stress is too much, try to have someone voted in as mayor. If that doesn't work, drop politician and move on. You're paying your 15 bucks a month to have fun. Not to serve other people's puposes.

There's my advice. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I am a mayor that has the backing of a guild and rarely do anything to the city without consulting the leadership of my guild and the city council. While I dont feel as "Trapped" as you seem to indicate, I do understand the consternation you must feel when you want to do something and have to wait for everyone else to sign off on the new project.

I can always launch a new initiative, but without the sign-off of the city council and my guild, the project will go a LOT slower.

My advice to you is much the same as the previous answer, get someone else to run as mayor and do what is fun for you. If you want to be a mayor of your own city, then start over somewhere else. Make your own PA, get 10 people and build your own city again. Or go become some other profession where you can truly enjoy you limited online time.

It just isnt fun when this game becomes work. I know that feeling well and have hired deputy mayors to assist me so that I can go have some fun once in a while.

Cheers!

You should ask yourself if you enjoy what your doing, and if the answer is no then you walk from your creation and let it run it's course. My first impression is the guild is the city bakbone now so you should allow them to suggest the path of the city..

In X-TaCity, our tale is much differen't. We are a guild from outside the game and know what we want so we and we know we will most likely attempt to induct guild memebers into our "guild" family. once they earn the trust and respect we would allocate more power of control.

your case is different as you shared you dreams with someone and they built on it. you should be proud they've gone so far, I think it would be selfish to "pull" the city hall from under them. Abdicate the thrown and ask a new mayor step forward.

If you are the Mayor and you want your city to flourish then strip the milita ( no more zoning ). and either start your own PA or invite another one that you know to come live in your city. You are the boss and if they want another

You cant let someone dictate how you are going to spend your ingame time.

If you dont want to be a Mayor anymore - you have already told him so, you gave him advance notice and all that. its not like his PA hall will go poof.

Thanks folks. I have decided to go ahead and step down. Unfortunatly i see that he has brought someone in that does not share my vision of the city. They are simply going to hold the statis quo. Hopefully they will grow to love the job as much as i have seen that yall do. Thanks for all of the advice.

I must commend you on your integrity though. I know a dozen mayors that in your same situation would have say, *F*** Y**" and pulled up the city hall.

Thank you for helping to give a good name to Politicians .

I dont think i want to meet any of the people that would do such a thing. To do so would destroy their very own creation. If i decide to leave the city and find another home i hope to come back some day and look upon Vo as a thriving metropolis and think to myself ... I built this. Someone else may do all the work .... someone elsewillhave a right to claim all of the credit ... but down to the root of it all .... i built this city. It is good enough for me. I just hope i do not come back to see a city hall and a few small one lot houses that are barely holding the city up, or worse an empty landscape. Then just as surely as i can say i built it, my leaving also led to it's doom.

God bless,im getting morbid!

Hard Problem somehow. I would say there are 2 solutions to that, the first, and thats how im running my city, is having a city council, mayor has full rights for everything but always needs to talk to city council before doing major things. I think that could solve your problem, when u achieve to build up a good working City Council. F.e. in my city that council is builded of guild leaders (or in my guild as i am leader its one of the founders from the beginning), and also one voted for non guilded and guilds present with lesser than5 ppl.

But maybe another good is, just talk to him like u said it here, tell him that its your city but have then the balls when he does not agree with you and leaves
